Wink UK8: Plan of action

Thanks to everyone for sorting out the deposits at the hotel, including the little MoFo, Carl:

The plan of action is expected to run something like this:

Friday Oct 2nd: I expect to be at the Stonecross Manor Hotel, Kendal, sometime on the afternoon.
Tony should already be there & I expect those booked in for the Friday will arrive by about 6pm, at which time we can meet up for a few drinks in the bar, abuse Carl & talk general sh*te.

The hotel's restaurant menu changes daily- here's today's menu:

PHP Code:
Sunday27 September 2009

Home
-made Carrot and Coriander Soup with crisp carrot flakes

Poached Pear
and Smoked Duck Salad:
slices of smoked duck and pears poached in red wine and cinnamon and tossed with crisp leaves

Fan of Seasonal Melon served with fresh fruits
and a refreshing fruit sorbet

Grilled Scottish Salmon Salad
:
slices of grilled salmon served on a bed of rocket and sun-blushed tomatoes and drizzled with a wholegrain mustard dressing

***********

Roasted Topside of Beef served with a rich pan gravy and yorkshire pudding

Oven Roasted Breast of Barbary Duck presented with a home
-made damson sauce

Poached Fillet of Scottish Salmon on a pool of leek hollandaise

Baked Lakeland Rack of Lamb served with a redcurrant jus

Vegetable Chow Mein
:
a selection of vegetables with bean sproutsnoodles and soy sauce

Served with Seasonal Vegetables
and Potatoes

*****

A Selection of Home-made Desserts

*****

£17.50
If all those arriving on the Friday night are happy, I'll book a table for 15/16 at the hotel's restaurant at 7.30pm, ok?

Saturday October 3rd: If we plan to meet at the hotel at 10.30 for 11am, we can set off before noon & stop off at a few locations before lunch at 1pm.
Carry on along the route, with further stop off points for shots & general chit-chat, with the intention of getting back to the hotel between 5-6pm.
There are a relatively large number of us stopping over on the Saturday night, so Tony has had his work cut out finding a nice place for all of us to have a good meal & enjoy some decent conversation with each other.
If it means sorting out taxis/minibuses to get us to there, we'll sort that out beforehand.

The route, lunch location & stop off points are being sorted out & we'll provide more information nearer the time, ok- we've never had problems sorting that out, however late we've left it.

Sunday October 4th: Sunday checkout is at 11am, so after breakfast we can have a drive for Sunday Lunch at a nearby pub, before heading back home in the afternoon.
Details to follow.

I hope Tony & I haven't caused any upset in the way in which we have tried to organise this meet.
It is for everyone's benefit & it does take a lot of time, effort & monetary expense trying to sort this out, especially when we are waiting for other people to take certain actions before we can let you all know what's happening & when.

We certainly don't take pleasure in having to make you all wait for information unnecessarily- please remember that before 'jumping the gun' next time, ok.

VIV you are a top man. I know how much messing around and planning these events take.

Really looking forward to seeing you all and puting faces to names.

Fingers crossed the weather is good, if not it will still be a great time.

Cheers Tony/Viv - has the route been arranged yet? I could do with it via PM if poss because I'm still not sure what time I'll be there on Saturday yet. Probably not best to advertise it on here..

I think we've always made the most of what we've had & who we've had coming to the meets, Jon- this one should be no exception to that.

Not fully, Paul.
Don't worry- I'll make sure you know where we'll be & where we'll be heading.

It's a shame I had to miss UK7, but I'm certainly looking forward to meeting everyone over the next weekend- it should be great.

BTW- As I couldn't be bothered waiting for any specific answers, I've now booked a table for 13 of us (Viv, Floyd, Tony + lovely guest, Carl + Chloe, Steve, James & Tanya, Ed + Mandy, Matt mjh93sa & Lars) for 7.30pm on Friday at the hotel restaurant, ok- please let me know STRAIGHT AWAY, if I need to alter that

Good work Viv & Tony. Friday restaurant plans sound good.

The hours of planning that you put in is appreciated.

So... who's up for meeting at say Stafford Services on the M6 on Friday? (for those heading north)

I might be there later than 7:30 depending upon work.

BTW, how do they keep that hollandaise sauce in a pool if it leeks?

Thanks Matt. You do enough work yourself, sorting out the plate covers.

No problem, Floyd- the level of your jokes is actually improving, albeit slowly.

Can't make the Saturday but if something is happening on the Sunday (even if only a morning drive and lunch) then I am up for travelling up for this.....is everybody disappearing home after brekkie or are a few up for some Sunday morning action?

There may be others who can't do Saturday but can do a Sunday meet?

Please post if hanging around on the Sunday!
