1. The AP saves off the dinan flash an puts our tune on.
2. The AP says it must overwrite the tune meaning, if you continue, the Dinan flash will be gone forever.
3. The AP is unable to flash over the tune requiring the car to be returned to stock first.

In the case where the AP overwrites a tune: The AP, having never seen your actual stock ROM, will put back an appropriate stock ROM that may or may not be what your car had originally.

I hope this helps,R

It does indeed help Rob at Cobb. Since I have a combination of an '07 and an xi, it will be a while before you'll have something. Also I don't plan on doing this until spring so maybe you'll have some experience with this sort of problem. Incidently, I have the Dinan FMIC and CAI. Will the stage 1 Cobb get a boost from these or will special tuning be required?

I am thinking that it would be best to get the ECU flashed back to stock first if it retains some other version of a stock tune, the additional programing I had for my BMW performance steering wheel and iPhone cradle might be lost, or are these sort of programming features not touched at all in the process?

i did not have to code anything because of the performance steering wheel. i think BMW was just messing with you.

Are you sure your airbag still works? J/k, I don't know. But they did say that they had to do some reprogramming with both the steering wheel and the iPhone cradle. They tried to do that with my Dinan tune installed but couldn't, so they had to flash me back to stock first. If memory serves, they had to access a different module, maybe one that isn't touched by the Cobb or Dinan flash but will error them out when they try to get at it with the flash installed.

Hmm in theory someone with a Procede should be able to run the stock map with the AP installed purely for logging purposes no?

Imagine the possibilities if you can have the best of both worlds lol.

Why would you want to do that when the ap datalog all the values you will every need. These are actual values not correction/calucations that come close.

the problem with that is the Procede doesn't hijack the CAN network in valet mode, and I highly doubt Vishnu would let that happen.

Ah I didn't know the AP logged everything that the procede did. Was just thinking of a possible solution for you meth guys. If valet mode doesn't hijack the can network then it's a no go.

Could someone post where the OBD-II connection is in the car. I looked for images on Google but I couldn't find anything. I'm just wondering what the process is, to actually get to the connection.

[EDIT] - Nevermind, read the AP manual on Cobbs website.

Driver side foot panel, nearest door. Near hood opener.

1. Will it safely overwite the Dinan tune, or will you have to get it flashed back to stock first? and

2. If it can flash over the Dinan tune, when you flash back to stock, will it restore the Dinan tune or to stock?

Thanks in advance. It looks like an exciting product.
I spoke with Rob on the side about this. As soon as they come out with the firmware support for the 07 335i I guess we will know shortly as I will be volunteering to work with him on this unless someone has a 08+ 335i with Dinan software to move this ahead faster for support.

The AccessPORT install video shows the OBD-II port.

@COBB - what is the general ETA on stage 2 and stage 3 maps? And what about ATR?

I would imagine my mod list would qualify as a stage 3, DCI, FMIC, off-road downpipes, methanol injection

Good job BuraQ! I'll definitely be going to school off your putt. What's cool about this potentially is that you'd be able to do, say, a 1/4 mile run with Dinan and then flash to Cobb and run again and, possibly, back to Dinan again. You'd be able to do real world real time comparisons (same car, same conditions).

There is customer who stopped in with a stock '07 335i using a Procede v5 in our Dyno database. The car performed well.

Cheers,

I took the best V5 run from Cobb's database. Similar to the COBB OTS map dyno results.

Yes but on another page he states that if they looked for it they could find it. So he is contradicting himself. I just want to be sure

1 question- Will the dealer be able to trace the tune?
The jb3 and 4 are untraceable when removed.
This is the major decision factor for me

dude read the thread....You can completely unflash the ecu in 10 minutes. After your dealer visit just reflash and go! Absolutely nothing for them to see/find. Best yet, you don't have to dig around in the ecu.

He is saying they could find it if you don't unflash it.
