my rail always dropped to 1100-1200 for the past year with no issues, stiil same tune since last year. Could be overboosting

Hey guys! I'm going insane here and I'm hoping someone might be able to point me in a direction to help figure out what on earth is going on with my setup. The log is confusing me. I'm getting a 30FF low boost code, which happened on the pull in this log. It was doing this on stage 2+, so I attempted a pull on just stage 2, it did the same thing.

2007 335xi, traction control off, outside temp was 55 degrees, 3rd to 4th gear pull. Just replaced the waste gates with the VVT rebuilt kit, and replaced the center housings (Stock TD03 CHRAs) of the turbos. The car is basically FBO, DCI, ARM 5" FMIC, ARM High Flow FMIC silicone pipes, ARM Charge Pipe, Tial BOV, VRSF catless DPs, muffler "delete" (removed muffler and added additional resonators to increase throaty sound and air flow). It's got new spark plugs (gapped to .02"), new boost solenoids, new vacuum lines, and more. I've done a bunch of work to the car, and it appears to be running great, expect for throwing the code and confusing me when I look at the logs.

The logs show no issue initially meeting boost and target load, but then I get a slight bit of "over boost", then throttle closure, and then actuals start slowing separating from targets. My boost starts dropping below target, and actual load starts missing target as well. WGDC after PID is running 30-50 during this time, and then about the time I shift, it throws the 30FF code and falls back to WGDC base.

What am I missing? I don't appear to have a boost leak, and the logs don't appear to point to that either. It spools quickly without issue, but just isn't fulling quite where the DME expects to be. Could you guys take a look at my log? Any pointers in direction would be much appreciated!

I am very not an expert but with stage 7.1 like you are running, i never seen WGDC banks % running to almost 75 like yours. New maps like v9 can go up to ~70% but not 7.1, it's maybe a boost leak at high extended pressure but i am not sure, some guys that are better at log reading could chime in.

I switched over to a RFP Stage 2 Map yesterday afternoon and some things have changed, but I suspect I may still have an issue. I'm not getting a 30FF code anymore (The code was originally disabled in the RFP map, but I made sure to turn it back on), and I'm not getting throttle closures anymore. However, surprisingly, I'm still running about 3psi off of target, and the load values aren't matching still.

I was originally looking at WGDC after PID, but it appears I actually need to be looking at WGDC Bank 1. That value is showing mid to high 70 percent through the higher rpm range. This map allows WGDC to shoot to 100% when it's spooling under a certain rpm I believe, so that's not a concern. The higher WGDC toward the higher rpm range looks concerning though.

https://datazap.me/u/stangapds/rfp-s...31&zoom=26-167

I'm thinking I need to pressure test to see if I'm leaking boost somewhere on the charge side. I'm confident the vacuum side all the way through waste gates are solid as I just replaced everything there.

Your IAT's climb pretty quickly, might be time to invest in a FMIC.

Hi guys! Reporting back, I found a major boost leak! Somehow one of the clamps still wasn't quite tight enough on my FMIC. I switched back to MHD S2+ OTS map since the RFP tune was not stable (tons of surging). It's pulling hard and smooth, but I'm seeing a ton of throttle closure in the data log still. Load and boost target are getting met great with what appears to be normal WGDC.

Is this throttle closure normal? I don't feel it in the car, but I feel like the DME is still compensating for something and I'm wondering if my setup really calls for a custom tune. Any insight?

wg banks looks much better, like normal now, but you flashed 8.0 ? this map is known to have weird throttle closure, flash v9 or v7 instead.

Good to know. I'll flash v9 and log on the way to work in the morning and test/log v7 on the way back home. Thank you!

V8 gave me huge throttle closures as well
stick with V7 or V9

Same here. Might still get some on V9. Check this log. Only minor TC's after shifts due to boost spikes? Also some timing corrections but I'll live with this map for now cause it runs like a cheetah, but also cruises easy too. Best so far for me. Anything of concern here? Stock LPFP on E30 dips below 50 at the top end?

Hey all, just went to MHD stage 1 yesterday, using pump oct 94... pulled together two data logs but have no idea what they mean. Would really appreciate if you’d let me know if anything looks concerning! Only mods are the tune and intake.

https://datazap.me/u/bwholden/april-...=6-7-8-9-10-22

https://datazap.me/u/bwholden/april-...og=0&data=3-22

I’m having a slight heart attack about the wastegate graph/numbers? Doesn’t look like the others... also the lambda graph goes wonky after the pull? anything to be concerned about there and what does this mean?

Thanks!!!!

I'd recommend getting an upgraded LPFP if you want to continue to run the e30 map

Its hard to look at......
I'm not too familiar with RFP's maps, what octane is the map? 95 oct?
What did you gap the new plugs to?

You need to put your foot down full throttle when logging, the accel pedal pos % should read 99.6 through the entire pull
The wastgate numbers look normal
Your IAT's climb quickly, time for an upgraded FMIC
The lambda AFR not going directly to fuel cut off after let off the throttle probably means the injectors are leaking. You can test this by letting the car sit overnight and pulling the spark plugs first thing the next day. See if they look wet or smell of fuel

Thanks very much! I’ll take a look at the spark plugs tomorrow morning... hope it’s not leaky injectors... I have 6 fairly new index 12’s in there.🤦🏼*♂️

Thanks again for taking a look, really appreciate it. Will also man up and press all the way down next time! Haha

Did you code the injectors correctly?
