Buyer Beware on this one. Someone is flipping the car. Was for sale a couple of days ago in Oakland for 3k and spoke to the owner who said it needed quite a bit of work. They sent me photos and the rear was in an accident so rear bumper is gone and abs, brake, and check engine lights were on. Not sure what this seller has done in the couple of days to render all of that.

Glad I could help! Don't want anyone to get burned. Honestly this wagon is a POS and would take a lot more than it's worth to get it back into decent shape.

LKQ is used parts. I don't think I'd necessarily be scared away by that on a cheap car.
On this one, I think I'd want to drive it a bit, maybe have the alignment checked. If that stuff checked out, I don't think I'd kick it to the curb automatically. |

I'd also be weary of a title in someone else's name that isn't the seller because if he bought it 3 days ago to flip, there's no way the title is in his name. The original seller's release of liability wouldn't match either or the documented sale price would be all out of sync too. When you talked to the original seller about work, I'm sure the car overheated and was in need of a wp/ts. Original owner probably didn't want to spend 1-1.5k for an indy to so that work especially on an xi so he sold it overheated and not running/limp mode for 3k and needed a tow. With the LKQ tag on the back seat, I'm pretty sure the flipper did not buy an OEM waterpump/thermostat, he probably replaced it with a used wp/ts from a junkyard omg lol, probably filled it with green or orange coolant too lol... Lkq doesn't necessarily mean bad. I bought a 128i at a pretty good deal when I went to change the oil the subframe had LKQ written on it. The car drove amazing and straight so it doesn't necessarily mean it's a bent pos

Any input from the community on the below? Kind of want to walk away but it's a decent find...
12250 out the door. Won't budge on price.... In light of the recent BaT price this seems like.an ok price, but otherwise seems high based on below. 2011 328xi, 6MT Vermillion red metallic with saddle brown sport seats Harmon Kardon, CA, navigation, heated seats, window shades, auto mirrors etc Got a PPI. - Smoked in but interior looks good. No burns or anything - no sound on radio. Pretty sure TCU just needs to be looped out - misfire on bank 2 at idle with O2 code. I think this is getting fixed. - Damage on Carfax on driver's side. Texture in pictures looks like it could be painted. Color looks good - I think it needs the valve cover done. Valve cover vacuum measured at 39.5? Can anyone chime in on if the high vacuum means bad CCV? Spec is 28-32 I believe. - Oil pan gasket may be needed. Shop said 8/10 but honestly it didn't look horrible to me. - No service history. Some in Carfax showing visits to BMW dealers. Have been unsuccessful in getting dealer to retrieve records. - small tear in front axle boot. Not bad yet but needs replacement. - front CA bushings toast I very conservatively estimated all these repairs being $3500 at an indy shop. Honestly I'd do everything but the oil pan myself. Parts still are not cheap and that does not include all the maintenance items to do as soon as I get it. |
