Engine and diff oil change.
Trans drained and pan tossed - installed new replacement along with new pan bolts and almost 6 qts of ZF fluid. My trans was under-filled by at least a liter. Very disappointed and its no wonder people have issues with their trans. Shifts much smoother.

Replaced the factory Bosch Double Platinum spark plugs with NGK Laser Platinums at 62k miles. Didn't expect much since the old plugs looked okay but the new plugs made a big difference.
I also got a Homelink mirror off an E65 7 Series and it was plug and play. Auto dimming, auto headlights and Homelink all work. My old mirror only had auto dimming and compass. Got bit by the modding bug and got Whiteline poly inserts for the rear subframe. Didn't have time to install them so in the meantime I replaced the amber side reflectors with Depo clear ones and put chrome bulbs in the side blinkers: Last edited by The Nightman; 08-01-2016 at 08:42 PM.. |

Had some oil leaking from my n46 motor onto exhaust manifold causing smoke from under the hood and burning oil smell in the car through the vents. Also had oil seeping from the oil cap. Replaced oil cap, Valve cover gaskets (also added gasket sealer on U-shape bends), vacuum pump seals, oil filter housing gasket, coolant gasket, cv/pc/cvv valve and all 3 hoses (they were heavily blocked fyi). Replaced pollen filter, air filter, oil filter, spark plugs, tensioner pulley, drained and replaced engine oil and coolant, did a coolant bleed and a brake bleed, replaced front brake sensor and now call it a day. Car drives like new and not a single sign of oil or burning oil smell anymore. Also no more "car on the lift" error (error was caused because of brake sensor). Now I go sleep, been a long day of work :-)
I'm not a mechanic, I fix computers, lol, but THANKS to the tips and excellent write-ups from the experts on this forum I could manage to do 70% of the work on my own :-) Last edited by ArnoldY; 08-02-2016 at 04:41 PM.. |

Very classy, I like it. Was it hard to do? My start button has seen better days.

Finally had the proper opportunity to use the rear fog light. I installed the switch months ago but since I generally drive one of the other cars in bad storms have not used it. Got caught in two summer storms along I-40 in a 50 mile section of a much longer drive. Very poor visibility and most people slowing to about 50mph. Turned it on the first time after an idiot sped by without his lights on and then saw a Volvo ahead of me with its rear fog light on.

Took one closer step to fixing vibration.
I cleaned both Intake and exhaust vanos solenoids. It currently didn't fix the vibration, no codes are shown. Just doesn't feel right when it idles at 550. Next thing I am going to check are the spark plugs/coils.
