Fitted my Toyota bits today. I used bolts rather than cable ties. Not sure I will keep them as they are pretty close to the ground and may well foul on speed bumps. Also had to trim the outer edges as they would likley foul brake lines on max suspension travel. Still, they're cheap as chips so no big deal if they don't work out...

They look good! I have been over a bunch of speed bumps since installed mine I can’t see any reason they would have an issue.

Haha thanks, I'm super happy with it. Works a treat using my hotspot, no dongles and all that jazz.

Loved the video, I still go back and watch the first one often. Coulda gone for some more cinematics of the car, but still fun to see all the progress on film. So ready for my own set of those ARC-8's.

I totally agree about the cinematic s, that was my first thought after watching it. Brandon had to cut away a lot of the footage because it got super windy and he didn’t have the fluffy mike with him. (As in Fluffy Microphone, not some dude named Fluffy Mike lol)

I just finished the final install on the aero cover I made. I ended up coating it with undercoating spray which I’m not happy with the end result. It sprayed really splotchy and uneven, but I’m gonna send it. Probably would have been better with Rustoleum Bedliner Spray...

I installed the rear Toyota control arm aero today. Turned out decent and didn't have to cut the post on them to install them. I'll have to remember to snap a few pics.

Thanks for documenting this build! Big fan of the 530i finned differential cover. I'll need to do this with mine if/when I go the LSD route (already swapped in a 3.64 from an auto into my manual 330i).

Excellent work on the rear aero panel!

For the rear control arm aero covers, do you think it's possible to mount them with a ziptie around entire arm instead of drilling holes?

Yes you could probably drill a few holes in the plastic aero piece and mount them by running zip ties through the holes and around the whole arm. There’s plenty of possibilities actually.

Well the day I installed the aero panel I also had new tires installed, so what I feel is probably a combination of both. The car is very quiet and solid feeling at speed. I’ve had it up to 120mph a few times since the panel install. What I notice is a noise reduction and just a feeling of calmness at speeds over 100mph.

It could be the new tires contributing as well though, but the new tires are the same as what I had previously.

Love the acceleration clips in the video. Great to see what an N52 can actually do when it's pushed. My car does not accelerate like that, lol, le sigh...

Maybe I missed it in the thread but did you go with a DiffsOnline diff?

I bought a used 3.91 off eBay and had it drop a shipped to M Factory (Synchrotech). They installed fresh seals, the correct rwd pinion flange, and a Torsen LSD. All in with shipping and buying the diff the total for everything was just under $2k.

That's pretty darn reasonable for a bomb-proof torsen unit. Also, I was wondering how you made the 3.91 swap with the pinion flange and the rear guibo the x-drive comes with. Now I know!

Do it! You won’t regret it that was by far the best bang for the buck mod I did. Half the price of a 3 stage swap and felt it even more.

Finally got around to installing this Cusco rear strut brace. It’s surprisingly light probably, less than 3lbs for the beefy crossbar which is probably 1.75” in diameter. The side mounts replaced a factory brace that was already there and reused the oem hardware. One nice thing is it fits really tight to the seat back, probably 1/2” of space there so it is very much out of the way and preserves trunk room.

I haven’t driven with it yet, but will update here after some time spent trying to feel it out.
