Imola last year in similar conditions, people were giving Bottas crap for fighting down the order with a Williams. Fast forward a year, Lewis finishes 14th behind 12th place Albon in Williams.

Positions gained in race:
Russ - 7
Ham - 0

New regulations thus far has really made racing closer but seems like it will always be a two-team race for driver and constructors titles.

The rain definitely didn't help and having no DRS for a good chunk of the race didn't help matters either.

With only one rather short DRS zone I'm not sure it made any difference in the outcome. Hamilton couldn't get by lap after lap but Max comes along and he blows through the trail of back markers like they were standing still. Hamilton is slow and the puzzle is, is it his car or him?

According to the Mercedes and HAM fans , it wasn't the car it was always the 'driver...

Max has blue flags so it's not comparable. But with the speed he approaced them and left them is of course without flags, and that was pretty serious too.
Max was about 2sec per lap faster, every lap of the race. That's insane. (and lapping them already in lap 41)

But HAM not being able to pass Stroll laps on end with DRS...that's pretty serious.
I mean Albon was setting the pace without DRS, so that's pretty slow to begin with.

Doesn't matter now but that no DRS parade went on far too long. Mostly dry track and slick tires

That's B.S.

Never worship a person who's mortality is easily proven....

He always took so much pride in how much longer he had been watching and following F1 than the rest of us (to me that just says he's old...) and how much races he attended and whatnot, so that he had to be right.....well, now he can talk to George Russel about that

Past performance is no guarantee of future returns...

As a Rus fan this makes me happy.

When Ham finally throws in the towel, I hope Lando gets his seat.

Presuming Lando even wants that, because now....I'm not so sure

I'd hope Nyck de Vries would get his seat.
He's been in the Mercedes eco-system for almost 3 years now and winning a lot (formula E), but the problem is, the Mercedes eco-system has only 2 F1 seats, so that is pretty much a dead end.
RB has alpha tauri at least as a sister team to introduce new talent.
(BTW Nyck de Vries came from the mcLaren young driver programme)

•1 The Russell boy is used to drive in a crappy Williams junk car.

•2 HAM is afraid in that bouncing W13 Mercedes (today it was even worse)

IMHO. Currently it looks like HAM is 'done at Mercedes...
For a 7-time WDC , it must be terrible to going down like this !

Not saying it would help HAM, more in the general sense. The race was pretty much the Top 3 and everyone else - it was up to VER, PER, LEC not to make a mistake. P4 and lower was just a train behind the top 3.

HAM will complain, say this and that but talk is cheap. He'll hang on until the end of the season and I'm not even sure a B car can be brought in by Merc because of the budget cap.

Looking like that but too early to tell. He did try really hard to overtake Gasly for so many laps. BUT, if this is the case then everyone stand up and clap your hands for ALO who always fights like a lion no matter how crappy his car is.
