I have visited your link and it has started me on the path of understaning the Car acess system and the Controller area network Bus: which will take me some time to grasp. The unit offered appears to be one that individuals use to turn nav systems out on a daily basis. I just want to bring power to the unit making sure it works before I install it (is that something that can not be done?). Is your unit my only solution?

My $1,600.00 + $65.00 shipping investment to date also included the CIC/Heater bezel, Controller bezel and a center console cover(not the same wood specie) but it
will do for now. Left for me to purchase new is the dash, A/C faceplate, misc harness & wiring and eventually the proper center console cover and a new $250.00 LQ088K9LA01 LCD.

My quest moves forward in the effort of making this a very cost effective and satisfying experience.

Again: I appreciate your help and the knowledge you share.

I continue my and : even though they are hard to uncover

Pro Radio Connections/CIC Unit

I pulled my radio to see what I am in for (regarding my retrofit) and notice that the Pro has a harness connection and only a black AM/FM tuner connection . Where does the GPS connection feed (blue) for the CIC come from, do I have to start at the shark fin. There is also a (Violet)( not the larger LVDS to CID) connection on the CIC (what is tied to that)?. Does that mean my roof arieal does not have a lead connected to the GPS or SDARS. Im confused on how I have no SDARS connection on my professional radio but I Sirius service??

GPS and SDARS connections are in the trunk.

Cars that come factory with a navigation unit installed have the GPS signal run to the headunit. If you don't have Navigation from the factory, the GPS signal runs to the trunk to feed the TCU (if installed) for BMW Assist. So BMW knows the vehicle location for Assist services (if Navigation is installed, BMW Assist uses the GPS location in the Navigation unit).

Pre-2010 models used a standalone SDARS module mounted in the trunk (left hand side, TCU is on the right). After 2010 SDARS was integrated into the headunit/navigation system.

Basically, you'll need to run extension cables for SDARS and GPS from the trunk to behind the new CIC. If you have the standalone SDARS unit installed, you'll need to remove it from the MOST loop and remove the unit (you can't just unplug it and remove it, you *MUST* reconfigure the fibre optic loop or install a dummy plug).

You may want to consider creating a new thread with your new adventure in installing the CIC. It'll help keep BimmerRetrofits thread on topic (since I would presume they provide installation assistance to customer who pruchased their products and services) and also give better visibility to your questions to the general community.

This is going to be a very interesting and promising adventure: the wealth of information available on this site will make my adventure a sucess (starting with Booster's instructional info and all those who contribute). I have come to understand what Booster meant by "these cars are literal technological masterpieces" and I'm proud to own one.

I will create, as you suggest, a new thread. Did not mean to take away from Bimmer Retrofit.

Sure, we'll be able to help with the Combox Media retrofit. I'd need to know your vehicle's VIN (vehicle identification number) to see what exactly you will need. Please PM it to me or send me an email to info@bimmerretrofit.com.

Thanks, Kate.

Does anyone know if an F10 or F07 CIC Head unit fit an e60? I recently received an F07 Headunit and am attaching the pictures of it. I'm worried that I cannot find a the connector for the faceplate/volume control/buttons

Any help? I went ahead and opened the headunit and saw there is a red connector at the bottom left but its not being used. Do the faceplates on the F series attached to the third range/salmon connector at the back of the CIC?

Unfortunately, there is no way to install a head unit from F10/F07 into an E60. We do have a retrofit kit for E60 that will work in you vehicle for sure. Let me know if you are interested.

The controller is not yet available in NA, but hopefully next year we will begin working on this retrofit. It is only available for NBT.

NBT for now...no chance for CIC, ever?

Right now it is only available for NBT. We hope to start working on this retrofit next year, however at this point it looks like it will not be available for CIC.

We have a Bimmerfest user that has ordered the iTouch Controller from China for his NBT system:

We should know next week if it works with older NBT units.

Hi,

I have production date 03/2010 BMW with CIC nav, I bought COMBOX 84109257161 and can you tell me what more do I need? Please notice that I care about Bluetooth audio only, I don't want to have BMW apps or something.

Thanks in advance.
