When your house only had one "screen" (not counting the ones on the non-Microsoft windows) and it looked like a piece of furniture.

Heh-- my buddy had one of these old TV's in college (which was a notoriously dry campus). It was well-known in the dorm that his TV didn't work, which was the perfect setup to hide something in plain sight. He removed the top and reinstalled it with hinges, ripped out the electronics, and cut the glass tube all the way around so the only thing left was the actual screen itself.

Then he put a blender inside, ran the cord out where the TV power cord would have been, and put a ton of booze bottles inside the TV cabinet. When the RA's came to bust him for having alcohol in his room, they went *nuts* trying to figure out where he'd hidden the booze, mixers and glasses. They knew he was drinking in his room (which was a huge thing considering the school's alcohol policy) and spent literally *hours* trying to figure it out over the course of the school year. To my knowledge, none of the RA's ever cracked the code, even after several years of effort.

I thought it was pure, unadulterated genius, in a Wyle E. Coyote sort of way.

I still use my 15C and my 41CV I used in engineering school. Best built and fast. We would have an RPN versus "=" race in my school to perform a complex math equation. RPN won every time.

Get off my lawn, kid...unless you went to Brigham Young University in which case I'll let this transgression slide.

You aren't old unless you went to college when the drinking age was 18, and many campuses had actual bars on their grounds.....

Lutheran university in WA State, 1984-1988.

No alcohol on campus, you had to live in the dorms until you were 21, and there were visitation rules regarding boys/girls on the male/female wings of the dorms.

As I recall, I broke all three of those rules my first night there.

When your first co-worker/mentor from your first full-time job rolls into town for a visit (and possibly to relocate to the area), and you haven't seen him in almost 40 years. Starting working together when I was 18, in 1976. I'm now 64 and he's 69. He arrives this afternoon, gonna be fun!
