Install was real simple to be honest, although it took me probably 20mins to figure out how to take the shift knob off so I could pull the Nav unit, lol!

The write-up I followed worked great, along with with the updated wiring diagram. I also choose to solder all my wires, no need for another harness that some people decided to go with to make things easier. Even pulling the cable through the trunk lid accordian hose was easy, after doing this I really don't understand where people were having issues (Aside from faulty hardware like cameras or emulators)

The pads are installed backwards. I was too busy taking photos and I didn't double check. I put on the clipper and drove out the the driveway and heard screeching noise....Don't be like me. Don't get distracted.

Ahhh gotcha! I don't mind the look of the m3 front bumper on an e9x it's when they start to do all the other aesthetic M upgrades. I like the 269's but I'd really like some 219's!

That sounds vastly different to my install would you mind showing me what kit you used and show me the install guide and diagram please?

Today I replaced both trunk lid shocks, both hood shocks, the engine air filter, the cabin air filter, and the windshield wipers.

It sure is nice to have a hood that raises itself again! and a trunk lid too!

Did you fish the wire from trunk toward the body of the car or body of car to trunk?
I am asking because I got the adapter harness today and want to solder everything before I go and start tearing car. And I would like the solder that +ve from emulator to wire to the cable that comes from the trunk too if possible before doing the wiring.

Started ordering parts for alarm retrofit. And downloaded maps update. Unfortunately, my cic has the initial version that doesn't do updates via usb, so burnt them on 4 dl DVDs. Will try to generate fsc code myself first, if it doesn't work will order from one of the vendors.
I had promised myself that I won't do retrofits on this car, so bought it almost full spec(couldn't find one with pdc so doing camera retrofit). May go with pdc retrofit too, if rear camera is not enough.
Studying up on dash cam retrofit. Damn, these retrofits are a disease.

Oh I got an error of right brake light being out. Probably the brake force display bulb because normal brake lights are good.

Bleh. Rear camber and toe adjustment bolts are seized so they couldn't do a full alignment. I didn't really need much of one anyway and they suggested not worrying about it, but I will need to get me some new eccentric bolts in the future. I'll tackle that when I upgrade my suspension.

Wired it from the trunk through to the body. The easiest thing to do is remove the accordian pipe from each end, squeeze it together so it's as straight as possible and fish the wire through. It took me about 45seconds. I could see if you attempted to leave it attached at the trunk and body how much of a pain in the ass this would be, but there's no reason to do that.

I am following the same thread and have the same pieces. Thanks for the tip on how to fish the wires. I would think, it will be easier to pull it via micro AV connector instead of bulky regular RCA connector through the accordion pipe, but there is a piece along the wire(where it separates the +ve/-ve for grounding at the trunk) that looks as big as the RCA connector. I am inclined to believe, that piece doesnt need to go through the accordion pipe. Am I correct?

Correct, the only thing that goes through the accordion pipe is the micro connector. Make the connection behind the passenger rear seat side bolster (To the other end of the micro connector) Flip down the rear passenger seat and simply pull the bolster off to reveal the rear wiring harness. There's also a ground block there as well where I attached my ground wire. Remember the red wire going TO the camera is not used. Cut it off and tape the end and hide it under the bolster. The camera gets it's power from the emulator (white wire) which in turn gets its power from the harness going into the NAV unit.

If you need any additional help let me know, I had to do quite a bit of searching in order to find out a few key things (Like the red wire not being used)..

drove her fast. Had to get to the credit union by 17:00 EST, left the office 16:18, and it takes about 25 min. (rarely would ever walk into a bank or CU branch, in person) Is an E92 335 a great car to be driving when you need to get somewhere fast, or what? All that just to deposit a $5 check (was for someone else)

I made an offer on her beater's replacement ('06 LS430), but the dealer rejected it (lowball). Funny though the beater would have a higher value than the 335i. It's not about value, it's about the pecking order. 335i is always #1!

Awesome. Thanks for the detailed response. I have done pretty intensive wiring to my e46 and audi (retrofit memory seats/module/wiring, autodim mirrors, auto headlights). Things were not easy to find and made a lot of mistakes too. That is why I sought an e92 with all the options I wanted already, but reverse camera was never an option. So, getting detailed information like this definitely helps. Thank you much. I will definitely contact you if I need more help on this retrofit. Still need to learn coding too. Haha.
