The real question is why has the car been sitting for months?!

Water pump went out! As expected. But, I knew it was about to this morning. I heard the fans going on overdrive when I parked, and the car took longer to get to operating temperature since the thermostat was wide open to compensate. When I drove back tonight, I pushed the car harder and kept the AC on as a test. Sure enough, the car took longer to get to operating temp until it suddenly started to spike, fans were loud and the yellow "engine too hot" warning came on about a mile before my destination.

I pulled over to let the car cool, set up the appointment with my local dealership, turned the heater on full, drove on over to a bar, called up BMW roadside assistance, asked for a flatbed, drank with my girlfriend for a bit, and got the car towed over there for repairs and maintenance tomorrow.

Total cost: Max of $50 Out of it all, I'm getting an updated water pump, maybe a new thermostat, and new coolant!

haha that was during the Takata recall where I was given a rental. Also, that bike tire's tube blew later that evening, because it got pinched. Learned a hard lesson, Walmart has the best prices in the world for kid's bike tubes. eBay can't even touch them, nor can any other online eTailer. Those tires are gone now, have PSSs.

Ordered new tires and started shopping for new wheels (Vorsteiners...rawr). Then killed a 12 hour shift looking at front aero lips and M Sport rear bumpers and diffusers.

So, getting detailed information like this definitely helps. Thank you much. I will definitely contact you if I need more help on this retrofit. Still need to learn coding too. Haha.
No problem man, glad to help out.

Was it the gasket or cover that was leaking?
