Pretty sure that anything that modifies the stock catalytic converters is illegal according to federal emissions law. Although I could be wrong. But that's what I heard...
True.
Tampering with emissions equipment is not street legal.

Ok "street legal" may have been a poor choice of words. What I was told is that it would be able to pass a smog test using the race cats.

It depends on if they're using a sniffer or simply checking thru the OBDII port. If they are checking thru the OBDIi port, you need to make sure you are passing all the OBDII readiness monitors.

Also, I know some race cats will trip CEL lights. I have CPE's catted dps and trigger CELs. I plan on installing BMS' catless dps fix to hopefully pass my emissions next year.

Just noticed that new throttle maps have been posted on Cobb site...there's now stock, linear, V1 and V2 listed for 3.01 maps. I know how the stock and linear throttle maps "feel", but what are the charateristics of V1 and V2? I haven't seen anything posted on this yet...

Unfortunately, I'm not using my AP now. Started having HPFP issues 3 weeks ago and it's getting replaced today. I had just ordered my AP when the issues started and was only able to play with it for 3-4 days before uninstalling it. Excited to get the car back tomorrow and try the new throttle maps...

Those maps are not new. They have been on there for a few months. Do a search and you will find all you need to know.

After lifting off there is momentary popping but that really isn't out of the norm for the most part as I am cattless. I can actually emulate that with decelerating with the weight of my foot on the pedal.

It is the change in how the car sounds at random intervals is what is weird. Just cruising down the hwy at say 65mph, suddenly it gets loud and raspy for about 30-60 sec then returns to normal. Now, at this time, if I accelerate, then let off the throttle suddenly, then yes, it pops louder and more so. When driving say for an hour, this may happen once or twice or never.

On another note, I have noticed that the "loudness" occurs for the most part at the same time in the morning after a 2 minute warm-up and then about 1 minute later on the road cruising... weird...

Just to let you know, this occured before the DP install as well on stage 1

^I get that too, but I actually kind of like it. It's like a boost of manliness before I settle back into the long commute to work.

I've been reading some of this thread (190 pages is a lot) and the COBB Tuning site and I am not sure what map to use. I currently only have AFE exhaust and intake as my performance mods, soon to get an ER FMIC. I don't plan on doing the downpipes and I only have access to 91 OCT in CA. Any input would be appreciated.

Run stage 1 drive or sport map

Once you get your FMIC you will be able to run

Stage 1+ Drive or sport

Once you get downpipes you can run Stage 2+ Drive / sport.

Interesting, can you log it to see what fuel mode it's in? There is a cat warmup mode (10) that is used to light off the cats.

Cheers,
Rob

Hello. Any news on the hesitation/lag, or even acknowledgment that v4 fixes it? I checked my logs again and I get simultaneous and identical timing correction on all cylinders for the fraction of a second when it happens.

No codes thrown.

I don't see this Stage 1+ map available for download on Cobb's web site (yet).
Can you provide one for Legato2057 and I?

IIRC then they should be available during the upcoming week. At least that's what I understood was COBB's intention - releasing the stage 1+FMIC along with the modified other maps (v400). Any maybe even some race / meth maps, who knows...

The v400 maps should be out this week and Race/Meth maps around the end of March.

Random question, when updating the APs firmware is it best to unmarry it from the car first? I have heard the stock map (that is saved to the AP) can be erased during a firmware update (could be talking out of my ass, but wanted to make sure).

you dont need to unmarry, i have never done it. The stock map is saved in the background of the ap , you should copy it anyway on your laptop and erase it on the ap since it takes some space.
