I'm still waiting for this job to open at Buy.com. I literally leave my gate, go down 2 miles (on the same street), and make a quick left.

All at a entry level role. Problem is at my current position I am at the higher end of the pay scale, so if I leave for another job in the same position, I'll probably be taking less money. makes sense man. I have a coworker who was a VP of Oakwood which is a big company, who decided he wanted to brush up on development. so he accepted a comparatively inferior position.

I guess you want buy.com because it's close to you and so forth. but if you want to rebuild a career i suggest you get into consulting.
The pay is above average, and you get other pays in travel and so forth. it's always fast paced, challenging since you have to work with the most recent tech all the time, and it's very condensed experience.

believe it or not if you spent 2 years in consulting it is equivalent to 5 years experience outside

You met Sten yesterday, right? the guy who left early? he's a career advisor or HR consultant or something like that. You might wanna talk to him, he might be able to help you out get the job you want for the money you want. good luck bro, and if there's anything i can help with let me know

I was considering taking a job doing QA for less money, but the commute is farther out...

FYI it only took me 3 months to go in a complete depression. I had to quit and it pays almost no money.
it's true you'll become senior in like 3 years but there's no pay. it's just depressing man.

consulting is cool.. but i hated it and took a desk job as IT manager... i ended up driving 150+ miles a day all over nocal bay area consulting for clients... at first it was cool, always on the road with paid gas... but sitting in traffic everyday is no fun..

plus if i was still consulting, i wouldn't be able to forum whore like i do right now =D
