It is a short wheel base VW Beach buggy which I built in 2004. Basically you take an old beetle, take the body off the floorpan/chassis and throw it away. Shorten the chassis by 15 inches. Fix any rust, recon/replace any other parts required. Buy a GRP buggy shell and bolt it on and get it MOT'd.
I was (still am just don't have any) quite into aircooled VW's. This was my second buggy. Also have had a couple of Beetles and a Type 2 Splitscreen singlecab pick up. They are fun, fairly cheap and easy to take to bits. |

Yeah, there is a lot of info on the interweb, that and a VW Beetle haynes manual... I think it may be harder to registger them now - we used to get away with sending the V5 off to get the body type altered and then MOT it thus avoiding the SVA/IVA test that most kit cars have to do. Pretty sure they have tightened this up now and you may have to get it through the IVA test...

There are quite a few around but they vary in build quality and looks greatly. They were popular in the 70's and had a bit of a resurgance a few years ago. There are still a few people around moulding the bodies. Forum HERE if you want to read up / see pics.
Also a vid HERE of a tube chassis buggy with a 2276 VW based stroker engine pulling a wheelie |

Here's my ugly mug.
First is my game face at last years Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Open comp. Face looks a bit weird as I've got a gum shield in and I got that mong ear drained since then. Second is me dislocating a guys shoulder in my first match on my way to silver in my weight division. Last is younger, heavier me and the wife at our wedding 3 years ago. I'm the one in the skirt carrying the flowers

Another E90 post ninja! Cool!
Competed in a fair few National events but kickboxing. Always thought about Jiu Jitsu but could never find a decent club. Briefly 4th for my weight (middle) nationally but can't find any good clubs down here (this was all in Bristol). Dammit. You Sccoooortussh then? I have a Scots surname but it's from a few generations back. |

Sure am Scottish but this was only the second time I wore a kilt. The other being my sisters wedding. I don't find them very comfortable.
I love a good scrap. Started with kung fu when I was young but realised it was a load of shit so started doing Muay thai about 14 years ago. Had a couple of fights, won some, lost some but decided to give up the fighting before getting married (my wife threatened to batter me if I had any facial marks for the wedding). Turned out It left a big hole in my life so I started BJJ thinking it would be less brutal, I was wrong. Trouble is that the gym I train out of has one of the biggest MMA teams in the country with a lot of pro/full time fighters. This means a lot of kickings for me..... I love it though.

Well I used to be quite bright until I took up MA stuff...! Convinced it knocked most of my brain cells out...
Sounds like fun up your way - I do miss it and only get to abuse a heavy bag a few times a week now. Just not the same. |
