BMW Performance Aero front bumper modifications. The CAI shows one of the stock slots in the roof of the scoop. Not entirely sure why all those slots were there to begin with since the brake ducts are in a different place.

No screen over either but it's on the list.

First ATI Super Damper for the N52, I've no idea why they put timing marks on it since it isn't timed on the crank. Told them not to but I guess it's their default. Ten more are being made for VAC.

Exhaust is finished. The PE merge is left intact but welded to the Supersprint section one pipes and terminated with a v-band clamp. A 17" Burns muffler follows and then another v-band clamp to a Y with the original PE tips welded on to keep the stock look, at the expense of a louder exhaust. This may change if it's too loud.

Diff cooler is hooked up but not the temp sensor and I'm not certain the lines are crimped, only put in place to keep from losing them.

Had to get another Braille 3121 battery as the one they've had since the car was first brought in went dead. And they were out at the track testing today so maybe they'll get a chance to fire it up next week after I can get the new battery to them.

Pete, why did they use the PE merge over that beautiful one you're using for the tips? Looks so sexy.

The plan was to simply replace everything aft of the PE merge while leaving a v-band clamp to allow the Supersprint section one pipes plus the PE merge to be discarded later for a proper merge and a single lightweight 304SS pipe once a more track-specific torque curve would be helpful. The merge with the PE tips might be discarded at that point for a single turn-down tip.

ATI Super Damper test

Ran the car on the lift today and the low rpm vibration is virtually gone with the ATI installed. Looks like it did what it was supposed to do.

Good good!

Your exhaust is ridiculously loud at least in the video around 0:10 seconds. I LIKE IT. You should make a driving video showcasing it

Got to stand next to the car when they wrapped it up and it was actually physically painful to hear. Which is of course, perfect. Oddly, after a cold start it settled down to a perfectly acceptable loudness at idle, didn't take but a few seconds really. And yes, the gas fumes are more than noticeable at startup but to me that's what a car is supposed to do.

Pretty sure the residual vibration noticeable in the steering wheel was due to the exhaust at idle as it's pretty violent. How he managed to make an inline six sound like a V8 is beyond me.

I'll ask if they can arrange a drive by vid on the lot (it's a big friggin lot) once it can roll again. Still has to be corner balanced and aligned as well as getting the LSD filled and the cooler running, etc. Getting the front bumper inlets covered with heavy stainless screen from Pegasus now, don't wanna trash that two grand radiator. And the Heim joint arms are in where the upper rear M3 links were so it's definitely all spherical now. Got the wrong Seals-It parts so had to get them on order with two day shipping. Maybe it'll be finished, or close to it, this week.

In order to keep track debris from damaging the oil cooler or the expensive radiator the shop installed some stainless screen from Pegasus. It's also installed behind the kidney grills. Looks odd but it's cheap insurance. It's saved their race cars a few times and it's easy to replace since it's just held in with tie wraps.

Heh. I'd calculated that it'd be 2960 pounds, give or take, so pretty close. Should be close to this even with the cage built out given the rest of the gutting to do.

Nope, kept mostly intact as I wanted to keep most creature comforts and was going for a factory look. Just replaced factory seats for Recaros:

(The center compartment was eventually closed using original cover / door)

That's a seriously nice looking interior, like the way the main hoop braces cut through the centerpiece.

That's impressive weight.

For reference, with basically full-tilt STX Solo build, my E82 weighs out at 2924 with 1/4 of a tank, all interior bits still there with exception to race seats.

Also - Good idea on the oil cooler protection. Someone I know with a M235i took a rock, errr probably a pebble and busted a fin, he lost coolant within a couple hours.
