That's possible with OBDII based smog tests, but we use sniffers here, among visual inspection. And when the inspector sees no cats, followed by some strange outputs on the sniffer, U're done. So I need the secondary cats to be present physically and visible, while I dont need to care about primary DP cats, cuz those are not seen.

On the other hand I believe one set of cats is more than enough for the N54 to pass smog tests. I also believe the biggest restriction in terms of performance are the DP cats. So running with catless DPs + high flow secondary cats is OK also in terms of performance. Check out some of the dynos and reviews of RRDPs with stock exhaust, now consider replacing the sotck exhaust with a nice set of 2.5" mandrel bent pipes with HFCs... the performance loss compared to catless DP-back exhaust is negligible to me.

Guys,
I went by Autobahn to check out this exhaust a week ago and I'll tell you guys one thing...
This exhaust system is top notch!
The thing that really impressed me with this primary cat back system is that all of the sections were flanged with gaskets. No section is slip fit, which means there are no clamps with exhaust paste to deal with.

The way this thing sounded at idle was incredible. Nothing was overbearing or obtrusive by any means.
Since I had my daughter with me, we couldn't go for a spin, but I went back today.

Since I drive 100 miles a day on the freeway, one of the things that worry's me about exhaust systems is the drone. I've also understood from experience that the hotter the exhaust the more it is likely to drone.
Well, I made sure that we went for a lengthy ride and there was no disturbing drone at all. There was just only a nice deep sound.

Overall, the looks and sound of this exhaust system is very top notch and I'm stoked for autobahn for coming out with this system.
You guys are going to love it!

agreed!! i have also seen, heard, and experienced this exhaust and it is by far a superior product in every way. not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but each muffler is hand assembled. just another testament to the quality of this piece.
