Hi guys
I went to order the kit today but there is a small discrepancy in part nos. I have a e 92 coupe which was registered in June 09. The guy put the reg no and VIN into the computer and said that I need the part 65410445684 51337184197 and 51337184198 for the E92 corner mouldings On the instructions he printed it says that this kit is for cars pre 03/09 and there is also another part currently unavailable which the other system lists as for post 03/09 which is 65412163268 So to summarise the BMW parts computer says pre 09/09 cars can have 65410445684 but the instructions and instructions software says post 03/09 cars need 65412163268, and my car was registered 06/09. Question is which part do I need, and what is the difference? Thanks in advance |

Got the HiFi installed by the local dealer. However I have a alternator type whine in the passenger side speakers that very annoying. Also sometime the front speakers cut out, after the car is left idle for a while they come back on. Any suggestions????

Also, it would be the build date rather than the registration date which would be important. You can find the build date under the bonnet or even by plugging your chassis number into realoem.com If anyone has more recent instruction manual for the latest cars and colour codes please pass them on! |

Hi Guys
The build date is 05/09 and apparently the correct part is 65410445684 as it was built after 03/09. Anyway the part arrived but the guy at BMW parts is saying now that this new part needs 'coding' or some kind of software update which the have quoted me 330 quid to do! This does not include fitting which they charge 2 hours labour for. Has anyone ever heard of this? Is there a cheaper way around it? Am I better off getting a different system fitted for say 500 quid total? He sent me this to prove it |

Sent what??
I just can't see why this would need coding?? Unless....they code the radio to output a balanced differential output over the speaker wires, which is what the hi-fi head unit does. Either way, this now makes it a stupid price imho, the Alpine amp is worth around £100 at most, paying £250 for it because it is approved is fair enough, but £300 for the amp, £330 for coding and 2 hours at an average of say £200 is laughable. That is nearly £900, for that money you could get into some serious hi end sounding gear whilst keeping it completely stock looking. |

This system doesn't touch the cars control systems, and just takes an amplified speaker feed. Even the power doesn't touch the main circuits, tapping directly into the battery and having an auto power off (when it detects no signal, hence the 3 second delay on power up). Buy the kit only and get an independent to fit (or another Stealer)

Sorry about picture here it is. Does anyone have any experience with this different part number? If I can get the part and my fitter can fit it and it works Ill be happy with that.
Cheers for the help |

Could the coding or flashing as they call it refer to the SA662 option?
So if you have a business CD, you need an update before you can fit. I agree with Richd. I fitted one myself to my March build LCI (i have professional radio) and all was the same as the original instructions apart from the splice points. In no way do you touch the cars circuits. I work in IT and have never touched a car before. It wasn't that difficult. If I was you, i'd have a go at it. Worst case scenario is you reverse what you have done and get a professional to do it?

Looks to me like BMW may have twigged this is a popular upgrade (hence the price increase) and are now allowing dealers to make more margin out of fitting it. Has anyone got an electronic copy of the new fitting instructions? Did the OP get the whole pdf from the dealer or just that snippet?
