Sounds very raspy. Almost like an E46 M3.

WOW.....That literally sounds practically IDENTICAL to a e46 M3 with the resonator cut....WIERD how you guys made this car sound like that...First time in my life I have ever heard an N54 sound like a freaking E46 M3!!! Thats just nuts how big of a build you guys have done and just saw the latest videos of the exhaust and all I can say is, unique..I wonder how that monster is going to sound under full boost and once it is tuned and dialed in right...

Man you have shown alot of us many new things that I never even know existed!!! And to be honest, your a very intelligent guy and have shown us here on this forum just how clever you are. I would do something similiar if I had the funds to do that and have my car sitting a year and a half But you did it the right way ALL the way thru your entire build and I commend you for that considering how you designed your intercooler system and your alu oil pan? You really critic everything on the car and I bet every bolt is turned to exact spec...Great Job guys!

I really like the build, but I think I'll spend my money on a new M4.

I hear ya... I want to drop more into my car also, but I'm just dragging my feet because I know I would never get my money back. My next step is upgraded turbo because there is no way I'm going to make more power with stock turbos.

Great amount of torque
When we started to design and built our engine, turbos and related parts, we used different ideas and concepts to eliminate laggiesh larger turbos and have great amount of torque on low rpm as well like on stock turbos. Or other words: to have responsive engine and turbos.
Well, I think we did the job well or at least our early tests are very promising. Will dyno the car on stock ECU once we brake in the engine and sorted out everything. What about 0.4bar boost pressure (=5,8psi) built within no time from 0 pressure on 1500rpm-1700rpm (at 70km speed) with partial throttle? I dont know how the boost data from ECU accurate but we also feel that the car is very-very responsive and aggressive on low and mid rpm (no full throttle test yet). Have to made some tests, once the engine braked-in and see how the stock ECU adapts the new engine and how we can do a custom ECU software, what is essentially needed by the end of the day. |

Stock-like boost curve with our custom made turbos
Yesterday we drove the car and tested the building of the boost.
Engine still in brake-in period, we have put 940km in the engine from the total of 2.000 km. We measured the boost with an analog gauge as the Awron additional display at this moment shows only pre-charge boost. We still use factory ECU software, so we excepted factory boost as well. We made some wot running up to 6.200 rpm. Here are the result: - 1.200 rpm: 0,4 bar - 1.500 rpm: 0,5 bar - 1.550 rpm: 0,6bar (!!!) - 6.000 rpm: 0,7bar (small overboost, but the ECU controlled the boost to 0,6bar) - 6.200 rpm: 0,6bar Car under my butt dyno feels significantly stronger, than on OEM turbos. Our custom made ball-bearing turbos have 30% larger wheels (inducer, excuder) and larger turbine houses than OEM turbos, and we can still maintane OEM boost curves. Turbos are pretty responsive. |

Custom made brake system
We have redesigned our brake system, as the brake force was not properly counted. We put a slightly machined e60 M5 master brake cylinder (27/22) and put a 4pot Brembo brake caliper (coming from a Porsche) at the rear. (Front still have a 8pot Brembo brake caliper (coming from Audi). Now we have much better brake force (front and rear) and brake pedal feels very good. Of course not as hard as with the OEM 335i brakes, but we use slightly larger brake pistons.

Exhaust system - end mufflers
This is gonna be the second version of our exhaust system. We use two seperate pass-through exhaust mufflers (instead of one muffler with two channels). Mufflers looks like a huge catalysator.
The reason for the shape of the muffler is due to space restrictions. |
