Hey everyone! New 335is owner here. Had it for a little over a month and have started some light modding.

I've already had it tinted, installed carbon fiber roundels, carbon fiber performance high kick spoiler, paint matched side reflectors, painted keyhole cover & 12mm spacers for the rear wheels. I debadged the front fenders & also hardwired my Escort Passport Max and mounted it with a BlendMount.

I have an ER charge pipe, Arkym style carbon fiber front lip, 10mm spacers for the front wheels & new spark plugs sitting in my garage waiting to be installed.

Upcoming mods are suspension (still deciding between KW Street Comfort coilovers or BMW Performance suspension) & a tune (probably going with MHD).

I'm debating upgrading suspension as well. I have a set of pro-kits but not sure if that will be enough to handle the power. Are you running 93 octane?

Hey all, I'm looking at a CPO 335is purchase and had some questions for you owners!

1) Clutch replacement. Cost, mileage?
2) Brake cost at dealership vs indy shop?
3) Any other costs I should be aware of during and following the warranty?

Thanks, and hope to join the is family soon!

Not sure about clutch but are you still under the regular warranty or are you into CPO? The regular warranty comes with maint. and would pay for the brakes to be changed

I've had the following done under CPO:
Valve cleaning
AC repair/coolant
Thrust arm bushings

The CPO is worth it for piece of mind

I would do brakes at indy shop unless you get a dealership coupon, sometimes better deal.

steering sound

So I'm hearing a slight popping sound when I'm turning at a low speed and also a bit of cracking. Does anyone have any idea what it is? and does warranty cover it? I'm at 33,000mls and its getting me a bit concerned

If you're under warranty, just take it to McKenna and have them diagnose it.

So my 335is has 35,000 miles on it.. I was filling up today and I noticed a coolant leak from the passenger side.. I drove to the BMW dealership since it was close ( no check engine light ) only low coolant light was on.. They told me my water pump was bad.. They had it in stock and could replace it today.. I knew I would be paying higher prices but I didn't have much of a choice... Has anyone had a issue like this on their is?

My understanding is all e9x 335 based models have this common problem... Blame it on the plastic impeller design.

I had a coolant leak once and it was because the fan shroud was rubbing on the rubber coolant pipe that comes from the plastic crossover that's bolted to the engine cradle. Sorry for that run on but that's the best way to put it. Anyways it was from an improper intercooler install. So maybe check that?

Water pump at 35k or around there I believe has happened but usually 60k miles and up.

Putting DCT in Neutral with Car Off?

Is it possible to put the DCT in neutral without starting the car or without pulling the trim off and using a special wrench?

Seems ridiculous to not be able to put this thing into neutral without starting it.

I searched and never found a definitive answer.

Thanks,
Greg

I could be wrong, but I don't believe so.

You don't have to do all of that, though. It's an either-or. You probably meant that, but your post reads as though you have to do all of that to get it in neutral.

No. Car must be started to put DCT into neutral. The hydraulic clutch packs need the extra pressure from a running engine.

I ran into this when my oil cooler was hit on interstate; had to run engine to put car into neutral so car could be towed and then again to get car off flat bed.

Thank you! Finally a definitive answer with a real reason behind it.

Where did you have that done? Oil change is $75ish at my dealer... OEM rotors are about 800 on the high end and pads maybe another 300? Did they really charge you that much on labor?
