Swapped to the winter setup. This time of year kinda sucks. Washed it too, then it rained out of nowhere.

Had blue skies so decided to wash it. Then mother nature decided to deliver a gift from the heavens above. A slight sprinkle. Oh well, another excuse to wash it again.

I'm debating whether I will even bother. If so, then I have 2 sets of snows to put on, one on the 335, one on the LS, I don't enjoy it at all....rolling the tires from the shed, jacking etc. rolling them back, wastes an afternoon.

I mean, how bad can Pilot Super Sports really be in the snow or ice, anyway?

Just joking I may not need to drive the car at all when it's < 37F. Before, the reason I put the snows on were that my RE050A's were worn, and my state inspection is in Dec. I still have not driven in snow in a few years, it's so bad for the vehicle that I can't stand it. But just maybe a handful of times and the salt has done the damage already, so in reality, snow is fine.

valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, rear main seal, mechatronic sleeve, o2 sensors, two door lock actuators, clay bar and wax done. Getting windows re-tinted today. 104,600 miles. Turbos are good and it still pulls hard. Will try to get another 100,000 out of her.

Got the new coils in.

Do not... I repeat DO NOT use dielectric grease on the new Bosch coils. Fracking things will seat and pop right back off.

Started on the valve cover, oil filter housing and oil cooler gaskets. Prior owner let this shit leak all over the place. Engine is so nasty from all of the oil.

Thanks for the tip. I just don't want to get oil and grease everywhere. Guess I can throw down some cardboard and plastic. Just realized I should probably change the belt as well since it has had oil dripping all over it.

Renew headlight lenses

Did the headlight polishing DIY with clear coat. I also did the fog lights as well.

I have a 2007 335i with original headlights..... let's just say, they were a little hazy.

Steps I took:

Taped off the headlights & fog lights w/ yellow 3m tape used for automotive body work.

Wet Sand:
1) used 400 grit
A) swirl motion
B) side to side motion

2) used 600 grit
A) swirl motion
B) side to side motion

3) used 2000 grit
A) swirl motion
B) side to side motion

Repeat process again for good measure.

Took 3 large garbage bags a part and taped them to the front of the car.

Followed the outline of the headlights and fog lights with a pair of scissors and created holes in the garbage bags where the lights are. I then taped the garbage bags to the tape that was already outlining the headlights and fog lights.

I used Rust-Oleum 2x Ultra Cover gloss clear w/ UV protection.

I sprayed the lenses about 12" away, waited 5 min, sprayed it again & waited 5 min and sprayed it a third time. I waited 1 hour and then repeated the process again.

I had a some orange peel effect on the passenger side. So, I used 3000 grit & wet sanded the lens.

I then pulled out my dual action porter & cable polisher and put 3m perfect it no. 1 on a chemical guys orange pad. Setting the polisher to 5 is polished the lens. I used 3m no. 2 on a chemical guys white pad and polished it.

Perfection....

My last step was to wax the lenses with some Black Fire/ Black Ice hybrid wax.

The lenses look like they are almost brand new.

Finished up the valve cover, oil housing and oil cooler gaskets. Glad I tackled it myself and save the money, but definitely glad it is over. I am too old apparently because my back hates me.
