What's all the hype with the MHD tuning? Is it just a way to use your cell phone or ?

Cobb stopped updating it's OTS maps with latest XDF tables in ATR. MHD uses TunerPro and continues to update constantly with the latest tables and you can use it to update your ROM. If you have Cobb and aren't interested in moving forward then you're fine. But if you're starting from scratch I'd say save a few hundred $ and get on a platform that's moving forward.

Even if it's s custom tune from buraq/wedge, it won't have updated tables?

Speaking of tunes, is there a big difference between 93 and 91 octane maps? Is it worth it to tune on 91? I might be moving to another state and 91 is the highest available.

Well you def don't want to run a 93 tune with 91 octane. You can run 93 octane with a 91 tune though. Even though it is only a few octane difference, some tuners might be aggressive with their pump gas tunes and could cause your motor to detonate

Not if it's on Cobb/ATR. The new tables don't exist on their platform. I personally took my custom BuraQ ATR based tunes and ported it over to TunerPro and loaded it through MHD. Lots of copy and pasting but not hard. Now when I get any updates/revisions from Q he'll just give me the tables he revised in ATR format and I just ported them over to TunerPro/MHD.

Nice, well looks like I'll have to sell my Cobb now! No wonder I'm seeing a lot of them for sale in the classifieds lol

Makes sense. But how much of a power difference is there between 91 and 93?

I was planning on getting tuned but if the power increase isn't much compared to stock on 91 then no point in getting tuned.

Thanks for the info LMB. What IC do you suggest going with instead of vrsf really was just looking at them to save a few $. Also, so with MHD I'm just purchasing their app for 99$ and then taking it to BuraQ for his price? What if I don't have an android device?

If you are just on a stock tune, regardless of if you end up using 91 or 93, you definitely want to put the money into a tune!

If you're on a budget then just stick with the VRSF or buy a used ER or ATM IC if you can find one. If you're OK with spending more then buy a ER or ATM IC new. I know for a fact the ATM does a better job since a friend has a near identical car in the same temperatures as me and his IAT temps are always lower than mine after comparable pulls.

You'll need a Android device, no way around that. Anything that's OTG compatible and meets the minimum OS for the app. I've seen guys buying $50 tablets that work fine. You need the flasher module, data logging module, and a OBD cable. I'd just get the one that Martial of MHD recommends. It's like $40 and will work no problem. So you're at about $200. I would PM BuraQ to find out how to go about getting started with him and pricing. I wouldn't even bother with any of the OTS MHD maps. Matter of fact, I'd PM him first just to make sure he'll be able to work with you through MHD.

Just spoke to BuraQ and he's personally made the jump to MHD so you would be good to go with MHD if that's the direction you decide to go.

1. what mods can I get away with without voiding factory warranty.
2. anybody know of any mod friendly service managers in South Florida area?
3. how much will a walnut blasting cost at dealership?
4. looking to do mods to add fairly reliable power, please advise on this line up and the order of which I should do the upgrades...

cobb v2
cobb protune or BuraQ
vrsf catless DP
vrsf mic
are stage 2 CAI
Er charge pipe with Tial BOV (Or upgraded DV...not sure yet)
BMS Catch Can
RB Inlets

Also, is there a huge difference in quality between some EIbach springs and a KV 1/ST coilover kit? Looking to get a tiny bit lower just for looks.

And which is better BuraQ or Protune?

Info: Just bought my 335is 1 month ago. Nav, HK, Cold weather, 19's, Mineral White/Black. 40k Miles. Sold my SC e46. Located in South Florida (Boynton Beach)

Definitely go with mhd as others have said. cheaper and if you have a dct they are able to adjust the torque readings it receives I believe.

I'm in broward so if you wanna check mine out lmk. I use a 50 dollar tablet and it works great. I'm still just running an ots map of theirs but will step up to custom wedge or buraq tune soon enough.

And because you're in Sofla too I woukd def prioritize a fmic

2012 335is with 11000 miles coming off warranty..what to do

I called the dealership to get pricing for extending the warranty and maintenance. My car is coming of warranty on 4/2/2016.

The following is pricing that I was quoted:
1. Maintenance...extend for an additional 3 years up to 75000 miles
cost .....$4931

2. Warranty.. 84 months (from date of purchase) up to 70000miles
cost .....$5350

I would like input on which of the following I should consider:

1. Forget the warranty/maintenance and just drive the car and pay for any repairs out of pocket. I am 69yrs old and do not race the car..just drive to the tennis courts and back.
2. Buy a new Car
3. Lease a new Car
4. just get warranty
5. Just get maintenance
6. Get both for 0% down and 18 months no interest finance

Also since car is coming off warranty ...what should I try and get the dealership to do now.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Check out the route 66 warranty option also, everyone here loves it:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...023296&page=11

I try and do all the work i can myself, if that's all i was using the car for i wouldn't bother w/ a warranty at that point. 11k miles you have right?...out of pocket for repairs couldn't cost a whole lot buying parts yourself and using a trusted indy. You're not doing any spirited driving i take it? Not really sure how much you love driving the car, I'm never selling mine but maybe you have more peace of mind just leasing to drive to the courts?

I'm still unclear. If I get the cobb, can't I just have it retuned once I add on more mods? My plan is to first add the mods (cai, forge dv, chargepipe, fmic, ) and then get a protune. And if I wanna add dp's later I can get it retuned.
