Just got a bottle of Angel's Envy, really enjoy it but I try not to buy it too often... Mostly because it goes too fast...
Has anyone tried Coconut Cartel? I've been seeing ads for it lately and it sounds pretty decent. Aged rum cut to proof with coconut water; Malibu Rum's smoother, more refined big brother... I've seen a few of these in the Class 6 (military liquor store if you don't know) - I was wondering if it was any good. I'm a fan of Hendricks so guess I'll grab a bottle. |

With Ohio being a liquor control state special bottles are sometimes by state lottery where you win the right to buy at MSRP (MSRP is only price for liquor in Ohio). I was lucky enough to win a CYPB and buy this for $46.
Traded it for this group. Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is one of my favorites for what they cost, both different years, Russell's reserves are all different store picks. Knob Creek is I think a 12 year store pick. Roughly $46 bottle turned into 6 at a roughly $400-$450 value. Can't bring myself to drink a $450 bottle.

put a 16-oz ribeye on the grill and went through three different ryes...
BTW...don’t sleep on that james pepper rye. their bourbon isn’t worth the price but this rye is nice.

Is anyone here into champagne?
I recently tried a variety of $50 bottles and think the Vuelve Cliqout Yellow Label is the best. Any other recomendations?

When we were in Napa a few years ago we visited the Schramsberg winery and did a cave tour - their sparkling wines are fantastic, IMO, but obviously not "champagne". There are some excellent Cavas out there, too, if you're open to other sparkling whites. Here's a good article to help you explore a bit: https://punchdrink.com/articles/guid...wine-under-50/ |

For those of you with home cocktail bars, any tips or suggestions or anything you wish you had? I am building a new home, and part of it is a cocktail bar in the great room, but I will have a bar in the games room also. My inclination is that the one in the great room will be more premium brands and more simple drinks - only those that are mixed or shaken. The bar can have blenders and soda for stuff like that. So in the cocktail bar I think I need a small sink to wash things, an ice machine, and a fridge at least - anything else people wish they had at their cocktail bar?

I go American and was a member of Iron Horse Sparklers Club - they give you old - at least 6 yrs - and a variety ... Winter Cuvee - with a touch of brandy; Summer Cuvee, etc I visit them occasionally. Always a great stop. Will join again when I whittle down the 2 cases of sparkler that I have. Picked up a bottle of New Riff Single Barrel Rye yesterday. Had to crack it open and at least give it a try tonight. Great whiskey, so far I'm really impressed with New Riff and am excited about what they put out in the future.

Continuing to tweak my house Sazerac recipe. I typically use rye whiskey, but cognac is a traditional way to make them, as well. I went with a hybrid. As it currently stands:
1.75 oz rye .75 oz cognac .25 oz honey syrup 2 dashes Peychauds 1 dash Ango Pernod/Absinthe glass rinse Adding the cognac brings even more depth to the cocktail. |
