Just find some at dealers and go test drive them - simples.

That's what I did before buying my M5. I just went the dealers and test drove one they had just to see what I thought of it. Just make out you are interested in genuinely buying it.

Main dealer was it or independent? I find main dealers to be a little easier to do this with. With a main dealer also say it's a family car to drive you mum/dad around in.

Over the phone you need to show real intent and knowing of the vehicle. I find just being very pleasant and real interest in buying the car in question. State you have the finances in place and are just trying to find the right car.
