I don't know what you're talking about. The dude who owns a company that builds e85 manufacturing plants CLEARLY showed with rigorous scientific and non-biased study that all cars can safely run 100% e85 and not only run as well as gasoline but also better, more reliably, and with 250% more BJs given.

Unless you tune to accommodate the octane level, you won’t see much of a gain. If you have a more aggressive tune, you can try but I recommend you run some logs to make sure you’re fuel trims are ok along with AFR’s. You could probably get away with just increasing your boost with this mix, but again there are a lot more variables that play into this from a tuning standpoint. Ultimately, have fun and let us know how things turn out…

Although the components seem to hold up fine to E85, one of the largest unknowns in using flex fuel in non-flex fuel vehicles are the fuel system seals. These seals are made with more expensive material than non-flex seals. OEM's that don't need the higher priced seals may not spend the money. Now if certain car manufacturers use the flex seals in non-flex cars due to reduction in part complexity, things should be ok. Otherwise, it's a risk until long term effects can be determined.
Also think, a car is able to run flex fuel with no potential for damage, why wouldn't the car manufacturer claim and market this? Ultimately, running e85 on a non-e85 vehicle is a risk unless the components have been verified to use flex fuel. |

Our cars can't even run E10 reliably, very few fuel pump failures in non ethanol countries. It only costs less because we all pay for it in our taxes as it is subsidized, it doesn't really cost less as it lowers fuel economy, so it net's out about the same, it is corrosive to mild steel and hardens many common types of rubber seals.
And if that is not enough - half the country is in a drought and every kernel of corn that is wasted to make ethanol is increasing the price of food due to low supply of corn this year. Ethanol makes great power, I wouldn't personally run too much of it in my car not built for it though and we should all demand the government stops wasting our tax dollars promoting using corn for ethanol!

i am running some test as well, but i am only about 24% ethanol. Really i am not worried about the mileage and or the costs. My logs indicate my car runs better with E85 + Tune, happy logs = happy car = happy driver. Thus, i would sacrifice a little more costs or reduced gas mileage for a happy car.

I have seen video's of identical cars running 93 vs E85 and the E85 adds enough extra power that it will walk the car running straight 93 octane.

Well I don't think I really had a point other than just expressing why I use e85. I'm just using e85 to offset timing corrections for aggressive maps (Ca 91 I'm stuck with)). If I had the expertise I would use COBB ATP to get the full advantage of a higher blend. So for now just a small mix %.

Its very easy to change scaler value for e85 mix in the ATR.
