I coded out the bulb-check to the rear turn signals and they didn't blink fast when on (can't remember if they blinked fast right away, before the coding, or if I coded before testing them). Errors still came up, however. Some other coding is required. Contrary to the belief of many, a new footwell module (FRM) is not.

As for pre-LCI tails, I went back to blacklines since I'm still waiting on a trunk. LCI outer lights with pre-LCI inners don't look too good, so I have the pair of outers stashed until I find myself a trunk which doesn't require painting. More and more LCIs should begin to be scrapped (as value falls and more accidents result in totaled cars) and hopefully I can find an already painted trunk at a good price this way.

Here's the retrofit thread I mentioned:
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...lights+tischer

And the key piece of info from it (how to rearrange the trunk light harnesses:

Hey yakev,

Do you know what the original wiring setup is for the pre-LCI? I had to put my old trunk back on since I'm dropping off the LCI trunk to get painted soon and my reverse lights aren't working.

I finally got mine working today

Wired in a 10W 22 Ohm resistor in parallel for the indicators - flash at the correct speed and no bulb warning

Front end

Update:

I wanted to start with rear as it seemed a the easier route, but of course, as luck would have it, I ended up completing the front end first.

Still searching for a used rear lid with inner lights, let me know if anyone is selling

As for the front end, my vehicle is tagged as prod date March 2007 with FRM2.

Bumper & Hood:
- LCI Bumper & LCI hood installed in parallel, no issues.

Headlights:
- LCI Xenon Non AHL's, installed and worked almost perfectly on Prod Mar 2007 date FRM2, 3 issues, noted below.

1) 3 LED Dots not lighting up, this is because I have FRM2, no big deal as I would eventually code them off to highlight the LED rings.

2) LED Turnsignal Hyperblinking, probably due to incorrect watt/voltage to new LED blinkers headlights.

3) Headlight error on dash.

Solution: Had the warm/cold bulb check coded out which ultimately solved the hyperblinking as well as the error.

Front end complete, your results may vary depending on your production date.

Anyhow, here are some pics I took a while back.

Any Chance you could give step by step guidance? I'd really like to use resistors as I'm not sure who can code BMWs in my town. They are safe and solve all the warnings right?

What does FRM2 have to do with the 3 LEDs not lighting up on the front headlights? 2009 E90's had FRM2 in them. Maybe its just a difference in the wiring harness between pre-lci and LCI?

Pretty sure that's exactly what it is. pre-LCI doesn't have the wiring to fire up those LEDs.

Buy anything from 2009+ as that would be considered LCI, anythin prior to that will be PRE LCI.

Check ebay, salvage yards, body shops, buy & sell, e90 post classifieds, patience is your friend and will save you a ton of money

I'm guessing you're all done with this project now since it's been a full year later, sooo what was the process of it all???? What did you need, how much did it cost, did the oem lci trunk fit right on + the lights, etc. If you can get back to me that would be awesome, thanks!

There are several threads on this. You need a new lci trunk, 4 new lci tail lights & coding.
You can swap over the trunk lights/carpet etc.

Is there anything else i'm missing? Is there a harness that is needed?

I put the parts list through the BimmerSpecialist but cant find a part/part# for a harness.

Please let me know if I even need harness or if you have part#'s im missing to complete my build.

Hey sorry to open this thread up after so long. But what did you do about the lock cylinder when switching the deck lid?

Am I wrong or don't you need to change the lock to open via remote right?

Not sure if this would get a response, little bit of a dumb question... when installing the resistor, would you have to cut the wire or just shave two points in the cable casing and tap the resistor to the existing wire? or jump the common and 12v for the indicator wire?

Hijacking this thread - just did the LCI taillight conversion - change the wire order to the inner lights.

While I have no errors for turn signals - there are fault codes for 2 step brake lights and fault codes ''taillight malfunction''.
What's weird is that both brake lights are constantly on - when applying brake only the upper / third brake light lights up.
I have not done any coding to the car and I have not touched the wiring for the outer lights.

Has anyone any idea what's wrong here? Not really sure where to start since I have not found such a error from other forums or threads...
