At first I thought it didn't work on my first trip which was quick but in cold weather the oil temp doesn't track water temp, it took a long time to get to 100c. This is good to know!
A few notes, after confirming you are connecting in INPA, close INPA or it won't work. Make a note that you have to enter the numbers from right to left. On metric cars the 10 corresponds to 100c so it's pretty neat. I could make 15 - 150c but lose resolution. Thanks OP |

Thanks OP. This worked great and I am happy to have a useless gauge put to work!
Now I am trying to figure out if I can fix my analog speedometer to show actual/real speed instead of the BMW "corrected" one. |

I guess I need to get good at computers I guess because oil temp would be infinitely more useful than instantaneous MPG. I wonder if they did research that actually said MPG gauge is what consumers want or if they just threw it on the dash on a whim??
Great job! I'll probably do this to my car when I'm bored some weekend. Now that I think about it, literally anything is more useful than instantaneous MPG. I think I'd rather have a gauge, constantly stuck at '4' indicating how many doors my car has. Or maybe a gauge from 0-100% telling me how far rolled down my driver's window is.

I will upload a picture later today, i was able to buy a 335i donor cluster and use a heat gun to remove the tach face and apply it to my 328 cluster...worked great! I don't think there is any other way to do it, everything on the market are just overlays.

I did this mod today with perfekt toolbox and it worked beautifully.
I actually was having trouble doing it the "other" way with Tool32, but the method described in this thread worked great. Finally rid of that stupid MPG gauge and got something reasonably useful in its place now! Thanks!!

I calculated my own oil temp parameters based off the actual oil temp gauges like the one above (160 - 250 - 340)
71, 96, 121, 146, 171 Can anyone with a 335i or e92 328i find the default parameters of the entire thing for us? Starting offset, damping factor, oil temp parameters, motor steps Would be much appreciated

Update: Not sure if I like the stock temp gauge for N52s. Since I coded it to start at 160 °F the dial doesn't move until it's passed that of course. My daily commute to work and back is 15 minutes max each way. Sometimes the engine doesn't even reach 160 on the colder days.
