Interested about this too. I crimped my plastic one by tightening the c clamp too much.

A local tuner is helping us understand the data to look for when capturing inlet pipe information. I'm hoping we can collect this data before pure inlet install and post inlet install and we'll be sure to share this back in this thread when we get it all tested and compiled!..

Take the o-ring seal off of the oe and put it on the end of the pure that does not have the o-rings.

Another question about this, if we wanted to eliminate the stock piping that goes across the motor to the air box, besides relocating the sensor it should be fairly simple, no? I was thinking it wouldn't be difficult to route some piping and a cone filter to the passenger side of the motor, since we don't have the vacuum canisters it should fit pretty easily. Basically put the filter in the same spot as a single turbo n54.

Was able to get it installed on the buddy's 2011 335xi Pure stg1 but running a Cobb Protune. Install took all but 20 minutes and the piece is real quality. As per again, Jesse and the PURE team has nailed it.

One issue he is having now is getting mad flutter dumps and what sounds to be compressor surge. During this install he also installed the BMS intake. Previously FBO minus intake per PTFs recommendation. Any thoughts out there?

I can't think of why you couldn't, you would just have to make an extension of the maf wiring so it reached over there.
Not sure what you would gain though.

It may not help at all but the stock piece that goes across the motor to the air box is pretty flat also, even the BMS intake might be a compromise since it needs to clear the hood.

I was thinking of taking it even one step further and possibly mounting a small meth tank where the stock airbox was.

I've been contemplating the same thing. Where I'm stuck is deciding how to re-calibrate the MAF afterwards. It's going to be seeing a different reading than it is now since you're changing the air flow characteristics. I wonder if a Cobb can do this and if so, where would you start in getting the proper calibration? That could be what's wrong with iuhutch's friends' car.

If this helps I remember when I first installed my charge the car acting a certain way almost like overboosted but after a few drive cycles the car started acting normal again. Maybe the car needs to get used to the extra air flow. I'm JB4 so I'm assuming the tune "adjusted" itself. Maybe he needs to get a retune

Does Pure have any dynos or power estimates on this part? They have a dyno in shop and as a stage 1 customer I would love to see if this makes any additional power.

i hope you dont plan on running a high content of methanol if you do that, it would just be asking for trouble in the form of a fire. but i am also interested in the idea of mounting a filter closer to the turbo to get rid of all the extra restrictions. especially seeing on how i have a 7" intercooler and Meth. probably would not matter much if i was sucking in hot engine bay air it should be cool by the time it reaches my throttle body.

Wgdc was way off going from stock intake and inlet pipe to BMS intake and pure inlet. Overall good news; result is protune very picky about part changes.

Buddy contacted local tuner and got a solid revision! More to come...

I'm the only JB of crew and will try to get data soon but likely not to be till late Feb.

Will continue to post feedback from the others

I guess the bigger the comp wheel the more you will get from this revised inlet. But if it's any gains on stage1 thats a cheap gain considering it's just changing piping

I may have some reference data with stage2 since pure will do the piping for F series after they finished first batch of stage2 turbos. So I will probably be running stage2 turbo with my stock inlet for some time.

Anyways tnx for sharing results of the inlet!

I don't know that the MAF sensor would even matter so long as it's still mounted properly after the filter. It's just reading flow and temperature. Seems like WGDC will be what is affected most. The N54 needs much less WDGC after similar upgrades to achieve the same boost.

Yeah I wasn't planning on running a flammable mix, maybe 30-40%. I already use ~E50 so I want meth mostly for the cooling. I don't even think the air will be any hotter, I bet we could route the filter pretty close to the kidney grill.
