Latest update...in brief...on way home tonight engine died....at 70mph on dual carriageway....fortunately close to a layby which I managed to coast to....then drove it home and car has just been recovered for delivery to dealers in the morning.....

What will I get from Enterprise...and when....???

You now have new mail enlarging on the above..

I think my motor is about to pop again, it's now showing all of the signs it did shortly before it popped the previous 2 times... juddering, hesitation of revs and generally acting like an old 1982 fiesta that hasn't ben serviced yet Will keep you posted!!

Latest update is that the dealers called to say they have been in contact with BMW and told to run some tests....then rang back to say they need to run diagnostic test on it while driving so asked permission for techy to take it home tonight.....fair enough, at least they seem to be trying...still got the Voyager bus from Enterprise which itself needs a service but they haven't found me another option....

Edited to add... having turned up Enterprise depot this morning they magically found me a BMW! Only a boggo 320d...but a lot better than that mobile contraceptive Voyager diesel!!

i've not been having any problems with mine - but i just find that compared with my 116i (115bhp), the 320i doesn't feel much more powerful especially in the lower gears. Anyone else think this?

Im not having any problems with my 320i E92 yet (4200km done), and to be honest I dont think 116i is comparable to 320i in case of acceleration. 116i accelerate over 2sec slower to 100km/h, so this is noticable difference. Maybe its something wrong with ur car Alpini.

Did u guys make some engine problems summary data sheet which u could share? Im curios whats wrong with those engines and what are the symptoms.

Any news/idea of what may come of your hard work??

Awaiting my daily update from the dealer at the moment.....

Dealer just rung.

BMW technical want them to try some other parts from a donor vehicle to see if they rectify the problem...only problem they have is that they don't have an appropriate donor vehicle available!! So "Sales" trying to find a vehicle.....

So hire car has been extended to Wednesday........

Dealer rang to update - they have diagnosed the air mass sensor....have ordered but it has to come from Germany...so will be around 4-5 days before they have it, then have to fit....

What concerns me is that we apparently have several different diagnoses of what seems to be the same problem.... I hope I'm mistaken but

Yep, it aint boding well.

Just to give you guys an update, I do quite high mileage 60,000 plus so I have had a few issues, and its now in the garage for the 7th time!!!

We have basically suggested (or threatened) BMW with early termination as this car isn't fit for purpose, so they are looking at my vehicle very closely.

Its been with the dealer for nearly 2 weeks now, and the general opinion is that all the parts are ok, but the software isnt. The dealer was ready to give the car back to me, however when it was tested the guys noticed a hesitation in the power curve, so are running further test.

BMW UK Technical are working on altering the software and running tests on my car, with the knowledge that when they give it back it needs to be right. I have the E93 and I knew I should have waited until they released the 2.0D, but everyone was raving about this new engine...

Will keep you informed of any progress

okay still haven't got it back, they are not doing the V29 update as BMW UK/Germany aren't convinced that this is sorting the issue!!!

Here we go again....
