A friend read mine the other day. Can't remember if it was a PO442 or PO447.
It all started my display and chime going off and a picture of the gas cap by the car. Checked the cap and of course it was fine. The it sets a code and the SES light is on. Someone mentioned that topping off my tank when fueling can cause it to overflow into the charcoal canister. I can't believe they would make such a stupid design like that, but if this is the case, ya think they'd warranty it? 12,500 miles!

anyone know what code cc-id 286 is? i know it has something to do with my angel eye (Lux) or headlight (also aftermarket).
headlight seems a little low/weak and the angel isn't working at all except for a a very weak dim light deep in the part itself.. Thanks all

So I just realized that these are all P codes.....they are not BMW specific.
P codes are universal across all US-spec vehicles. They are emissions related. |

I've got three right now:
4687 - throttle valve actuator 4593 - ? 4AE6 - ? Any idea what the last two mean? Getting a rough idle - car goes in tomorrow for servicing. |

Transmission Range N
Anyone ever see the message 'Transmission Range N'?
Then it tells me the following: The transmission automatically shift to P when the engine is switched off. Please contact your BMW center as soon as possible. I have a 2012 335is with the DCT. It just came up while driving on the freeway. Took it to the dealer today and they said they've never heard of it or seen it and that I need a part that isn't in the US or Germany so my car could be in the shop for 4-6 weeks and I can't drive it. What the heck??? |

Newbie looking for DIY info
Quote:
Please pardon the newbie I am. I've had a 2008 328 xi for 3 years and now, and the free service is over. I am looking at doing all the maintenance I can by myself. I have always taken care of all my cars and cycles by DIY, but this is my 1st BMW car. Where can I get a device to read my car's info/codes (and also reset them)? I didn't see the link referred to above. I would like to be able to see and do all the things the dealer does. Any other advise for DIY is also greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! |

Help?
How do I get the codes pulled for free in CA? My local autozone said CA has some specific laws on the ability to pull codes and they wouldn't pull the codes for less than 85 dollars, when they advertise that its free!

BMW 320i Diagnosis Help!
Can anyone tell me what what these fault codes mean and weather it is going to cost me an arm and a leg to fix!
2a67 VVT - Activation 2a6b Power Supply Limit VVT - Emergency 2a5b VVT - Ref. Sensor So i had a warning light appear on my car )Only owned for 3 months). After a few diagnoses from other garages, i finally took my car to BMW, who told me to replace the eccentric shaft sensor and the Rocker cover gasket as they found some Oil around the sensor plug. I had them both changed through the dealer; however this did'nt help as the warning light is still there. I don't know if BMW Diagnosed it right but i need this problem fixed ASAP! I also would like to know if anyone has had similar issues and if so, how they resolved it. At this point i don't even know weather the car is worth keeping so i need some advice! Thank you! |

Hey guys, newbie here... and I apologize if this is a very silly question. I'm having issues with my 2011 335i Xdrive. Threw different codes after going into limp mode with a "service engine soon" light flashing and the old half engine block on the dash. It threw
2BF8-rail pressure sensor, signal permanently stuck 2C01- High fuel pressure, plausibility Pressure too low 2EFE-Misfire, several cylinders: damaging to catalytic converter or damaging exhaust gas 2F01-Misfire, Cylinder 3 2F02-Cylinder 4 2EFF- cylinder 1 2EE0- Combustion misfiring, several cylinders fuel injection deactivation 2EE4-Combustion misfiring, cylinder 1 fuel injection deactivation 2EEA-Combustion misfiring, cylinder 3 fuel injection deactivation 2EED-Combustion misfiring, cylinder 4 Fuel injection deactivation I was able to drive it to the dealership I work at, because after I restarted the car, it ran just fine. They cleared the codes and told me to drive it over night to see if anything popped back up. Something did. DTC-36FD Which appears to having something to do with my main relay/fuse box I should note, my father in-law did just put a new cold air intake on the vehicle. 64000 miles. Anyone have any similar experiences or maybe some words of wisdom I may be able to use? Just put 2k worth of work into this car that I just bought 45 days ago. Replaced the water pump and thermostat. Its my dream car and I love it, so I'm hoping this may just be a simple fix. Thanks guys. |
