Just odd to me this gasket sealed perfectly for a year and then the new one leaks in the cold too.

It's an easy enough swap, an hour max so maybe i'll give the BMW a go. My Elring is on warranty so can offset the cost of the BMW a bit.
Was gonna say at this point, my next thing to try would be the Genuine gasket (Since the Elring isn't the OE one) and hope it fixes the odd issue

Yep. Just ordered one + bolts. I have brake pads + brake fluid flush on the agenda for this weekend anyway

I have also just sent FCP an email regarding the issue with the Elring leaking in cold temperatures. I did ask to see if they could discount or refund my shipping costs as I had to pay for expedited shipping to receive it by this coming weekend.

Yeah, we installed the same Elring oil cooler gasket on an N52 X5 and it leaked almost immediately in the cold as well. I've seen this issue way to often with the Elring at this point unfortunately.

I appreciate your first response. I hadn't checked the reviews the last two times I replaced it. I would have probably bought a new housing otherwise. Hopefully the genuine will hold up.

This kind of makes me worry about my Elring OFHG though. Guess i'll add that to the spring schedule.

Look at this link w 4 options,

For the elring there are 2 options, pay attention to the materials.
May be one is worse in the cold.
One also says elring oe.

This is surprising. I've never had an issue with my Elring OCHG that's been installed for over 2 years now

Well, brakes and flush are done, so is the seal.

I see now my OFHG is leaking too (also an elring, does not appear to be active so guessing it's only leaking in the cold as well).

The new genuine gasket hasn't leaked yet, but it has been oddly warm here the last 3 days. Currently 57° according to my dash, will be 18° on Monday :
