I think that just means the scan found the safety inspection date as past due. I don't think it is that date of the shop report.
I wonder if someone used a set of big-ass Channel Locks on the cap during a previous oil change.

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

Same exact thing just happened to me. I think I put the filter on incorrectly, now that I see how the pressure flows in the relief valve. It was only my second oil change and the temp dropped outside here in Denver so I kinda rushed it. Huge mistake. Thankfully I knew to turn the car off as soon as I heard the loud pop sound.
Then I flat bedded it to a high end shop and went to the dealership to get a genuine filter housing cap. My cap looked like the same exact brand as the one in this post. Shop properly cleaned my engine so the alternator didn’t fail. Leaving the shop car ran like a champ. Now a few weeks later I’m throwing codes. I’ll make a new thread with all the details, since it sounds like this isn’t a very common problem. |

Man this is wild. I've just had bad luck with any aftermarket parts. even the upper coolant expansion line by rein. Fit well when ordered. Down the road needed a new expansion tank, bought genuine. Upon trying to attach the rein upper hose it was just a floppy connection which was fixed by about 6" of plumbers tape on the outlet port on the expansion tank.
I just had to apply an even larger piece as I had the line removed last weekend. More often than not I have learned the aftermarket parts for these cars are kind of trash. |

Buying a URO oil cap is crazy though considering the BMW one isn't even expensive. |
