The only issue I've had so far is the iCloud app struggling with folder permissions and causing conflict, a quick Google revealed that all it needed a was a change in folder location and it's now fine again. Also had 100% disk usage most of the time, again a quick Google revealed that there were a couple of services that can be disabled, with no obvious effect, did the trick and it's running fine. |

Every silver lining has a cloud attached to it!
http://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonke...matic-updates/ You get whatever Microsoft wants to give you. No choice. Complete loss of control. Which is what happened recently with a display drivers update causing many pc's to continually re-boot. W10 is not for me.

But Windows 7 and 8 would both have automatically installed that display driver and caused similar issues...
Unless your suggesting to people (on older OS's) that they disable windows update, which is pretty dumb to suggest to anyone who isnt an IT "expert"... The simple fact is that for your average home user, if it doesnt update automatically then it'd simply never get updated, its been like that since the beginning of time, which is why XP service pack 2 reworked the whole update system and enabled automatic updates in a much more vocal manner. |

bytejunkie really went in for the kill with that last post haha.
I went running back to Classic Shell pretty soon after installing 10, quite stubborn with how I operate |

I've put Windows 10 on my Windows 8 touch screen laptop and I reckon it's much better, albeit with Start10 running to bring the normal start button back again. I'll see how it goes though before putting it on my Windows 7 desktop because without the touch screen I'm not sure it's worth the hassle.

I dont know if it was just "cool" or if people actually used Win 8.1, but personally I love it.
Have now got 10 on a few systems, including a Surface Pro 3, and not sure its worth upgrading my main desktop from 8.1 yet. Sure its nice to see a different start menu, but aside from that, its no faster than 8.1 |

on a PC system being used in a well known car plant. That, of course, eventually took production down for a number of hours. An update corrupted or conflicted with running software. I think the 'expert' had the sack for that. If you have auto updates enabled, you're a braver man than me gungadin!

I don't have Auto Update running but I'm advised when updates are available & install them, they are after all mostly security updates so why wouldn't I, either way the result is the same if there's a conflict.
The biggest annoyance I have with W 8.1 is if I double click a jpg and I'm immediately switched to that stupid tile screen, I hope that can be switched off completely on W10 |

The problem I see with Windows 10 is also the inability to turn off automatic updates. As mentioned, forcing the average home user to stay up to date may not be a bad thing however this covers more than just security updates. If Microsoft decide that they want to include a new media player or something as part of W10, you're getting it, whether you like it or not. So there could be no end to the amount of crap add-ons they make part of W10. I also read somewhere that they will be able to search your PC and then lock it if they find pirated content etc... |

I've completed the W10 update 3 times now and each time it's rendered my laptop completely useless thanks to boot loop & multiple BSOD, and each time I've had to go back to 8.1. For the brief period I was able to use W10 it looked good & an improvement on 8.1, but I won't be risking my work laptop again trying this upgrade

same for my win phone....
using windows insider went from 8.1 to phone 10 all good... then they offered a later version and it killed the phone.... sort of luckily they made a recovery tool... but that went back to phone 8 and we start all over again. with phone 10 out shortly, issuing a version that kills phones is pathetic. makes you wonder what jokers they have working for them and quite what they test this rubbish on |
