I've bought a HU without optical input on eBay.de
BMW serial : 65129246502
I can't find it on realoem

Could you please tell me if we can plug directly an iPhone or an iPod in the USB socket to read music or it's not possible and we must plug an Aux-in too ?

Thank you very much for you kindness and patience with me
I have linked your thread here (french BMW 1 series forum) : http://www.bmw-one.com/phpbb3/viewto...p?f=41&t=16854

Thanks a lot

You can plug your iPod to the head unit without problems! It will be recognized as iPod and you will be able to choose between:
- Artist
- Albums
- Songs
- Generes
- Lists
- Podcasts

But you will need this cable:

You can get it at your dealer or eBay. I think the right part number is 61120440812

Regards!

PD: All functions can be enabled by coding the head unit.
- PDC
- USB
- Bluetooth
- HiFi
...

Because I have read your french thread (I only understood a little bit) and you were talking about this. One of your friends said that if this features are not enabled from factory it wouldn't work and this is wrong.
You can enable what your want.

It would be easier for you if it was a spanish forum

For the BMW aux-USB cable, I know it
I would be sure we can't plug directly iPod or iPhone on the USB input... We always need the aux-USB cable

For coding, we have "BMW coding".
He says that he must have a specific material to code.
He says that it probably doesn't work with a simple OBD cable.
He's talking about an optical MOST protocole... 500€ for the tools.

What we can do To keep all the coded options permanantly.
I don't want To code every time for this
The Guy who codes is at 500 kms from me
Is a BMW dealer able To code with MOST ?

Yeah, it would be easy for me if everybody spoke in spanish

Your dealer won't able to do that. It involves changing the production date (temporarily) and your Vehicle Order.

You can code it with a chinese cheap obd cable and NCS Expert, I am very sure of this No MOST interface is necessary. This is only necessary for coding MULF modules and others.

The options you have activated will be permanently stored at the Head Unit and your dealer could mess up them only in certain cases, i.e. recoding the whole car if you have to change a broken ECU or there is a software upgrade that your dealer wants to install to you.

In this cases there is strongly recommended to install your older head unit to your car before going to the dealer and then swap it again when your dealer had finished working on your car, maybe you have to recode PDC and KOMBI module after the dealer for get the dongs/beeps again.

When you are doing maintenance operations such as oil change, brakes, filters, a diagnosis... there is not neccesary to change the head unit.

My car is 5 years and only one software upgrade under warranty because I asked for it. It is not very common to upgrade it. Only if you have some problems (for example 335i turbo lags or injectors, steering wheel red lock...) And I am not sure if your dealer only recode the broken ECU or the whole car when you have problems with only one of them

Regards.

Yes, totally

It is able to save the state of 4 usb memories, you can change between them and keep listening to the music inside the memory where you was listening to.

Of course, if you stops the car, the music will resume where you was listening to, it doesn't matter how long was the car stopped.

I am your neighbour, dude! I live in Spain

I am so sorry but this is not possible... You cannot retrofit a Head Unit with built-in USB and Bluetooth and keep the VIN coherent with this features.

This is because this Head Units came up at 09/2010 and it is supposed that cars older than this date cannot have this HU installed.

If your car is after this date, you can install this HU with no problems only adding $663, $6NN and $6FL to your VO and save it at CAS and NFRM. You wont to change it if you have to visit your dealer.

Don't worry about your guarantee, if something bad happens to your car, put your old HU back and don't say anything about the retrofit

What Head Unit have you got installed at your car now? Which is your car's production date?

Regards

This is the HU I bought:
http://www.ebay.de/itm/BMW-PROFESSIO...#ht_2404wt_922

The production date of my car is 04/2010.

The HU is brand new.
No VIN in the HU.

I've tested it today with mic and USB plugged.
- Phone works. But can't modify Volume of the call.
- USB is present but does not detect my iPhone. It only charges my iPhone.
- voice recognition works but in german
- gongs for seat belt, headlights or PDC work.
But can't modify the level of the gong.
- Bluetooth menu can't switch automatically on Tuner Menu.

Perhaps it would be clearer if I make a video ?

for coding, I'm alone
I have friend in Belgium that has got a BMW Garage (his father).
So he has got BMW tools.
But I don't if he can easily code...

Older Chime

Have a 320i M Sport in Australia (2006) without PDC or iDrive but hate the older style chime; if I start coding my car and change the value:

HU_VERBAUT_C08

from radiostufe_1_2 to radiostufe_3_4

In german it just means radio level but I'm not sure? Have you heard of anyone with this form of problem?

Regards,

Regards,
If you have old style chime, it is not enough changing the KOMBI code, you have to change the Head Unit with one newer (from 09/07 or after)

I don't know if it is possible to flash your current HU and install a new firmware.

If you don't have neither bluetooth nor USB you better buy one with them built-in like mine.

Regards.

Yes, of course it could have the last software SUITABLE FOR YOUR CAR, not the last possible software.

It is not the same and the dealer is not going to install the latest for you. I don't even know if this is possible either.

Regards

Hi jose,
I am planning to do this retrofit.. I have a 07 e92 production date 08/06 with bluetooth, bmw assist ,aux only and logic7 system. I am planning to get the same hu that you got. Do you think the bluetooth built in the hu will interfere with my stock bluetooth? How did you recode the dongs? Thank you!

Hello all !
I have just received a completely new unit (65129268810) with Bluetooth and MOST.
I have tested it and I don't know if the unit is broken or just new and need coding at dealership ?
When I turn on the unit, the screen is all orange like a display test function...
So I can't use it like that
The radio is new from BMW dealership.

- broken ?
Or
- new and need coding ?

Hi! I think you should disconnect your old ulf module and close the optic fiber ring.
Be careful buying the head unit. This kind of HU sometimes comes without most ******ions so your L7 amp cannot be connected to it. Check it before buying one.

If you whant the new dongs you only have to change one value at the kombi ecu.
HU_VERBAUT_C08
radiostufe_X -> radiostufe_3_4

Regards.

I dont know... Mine was used. If it is brand new maybe you need to code it... Try to code it first.

Sorry, this is the most I can tell you about that

Hello José !
Recently I've installed a BMW professional unit with Bluetooth and MOST.
The radio was coded for my vehicule by a German coder.
The only parameters that the coder changed were :
- USB on/off
- SVS language (for french)
- Sound level (before it was coded for a E90 stereo system)

And now, when I adjust the level of PDC or gong, nothing happens.
At -5 or +5, the sound is the same. Desperatly low sound.
If you want I have a video on YouTube of that ?
Thanks for your help

Hi, I am having the same problem than you.
I am still working on it.

I have recently added tweeters to my rear speakers so the beeps of the PDC are loud enough for me but I would be better if I can increase it a little bit.

I will tell you if I find a coding solution.

Regards

Help needed on some doubts

- enable USB (my HU came with this feature disabled)
- change the service numbers (I wanted the spanish numbers instead of the english)

But most times, it is plug&play and It is not necesary to code (but always recomendable)

The best way is add $663 $6nn $6fl to the VO and reset these ecus Regards
I have a e91 build 2007/02 and would like to do this retrofit as well, I have a profesional HU but I don't have USB nor Bluetooth so if I understand you correctly all I have to do is purchase a HU form built 2010 onwards with USB and Bluetooth and code the kombi and rad2 with $633, $6nn and $6fl, correct?

That would be so sweet if it were that simple Hoping to hear from you
