I love the E30 but I don't want to risk it daily to the hostilities of the city, that's why I use my E90 as a daily, it is a car that satisfies me a lot, fast enough, comfortable and with the comforts of the 21st century. I customized it mechanically, and discreetly in their appearance. I like how it feels and looks, I haven't looked at another car...
... although my E30 feels so comfortable, balanced, agile, a soft, deep raspy sound that is very relaxing, and all of that accompanied by soft aromatic notes of leather and gasoline. |

Ah, don't lump us all in that group.
I'll still make a habit of pointing and laughing at them. I know a lot of owners enjoy their appearance, and I'll admit they do look better in person. But that's one generation I'll gladly skip market for. I barely see any on the road vs. previous generations after the model has been out for what, 2-3 years? |

Actually, a new M440i 'vert would be my personal "win the lottery" pick. I have enough vehicles right now and have no desire to replace any, so it would have to be a splurge.

My problem is that I attend multiple car shows every year, and go on these darn forums and see what others have for cars. I will always have a wandering eye in terms of cars and the desire to have something else. What I should do is just have more money and a bigger garage so I can be in possession of multiple cars at the same time.
For therapy I have been to Vegas a couple times to drive supercars on the SpeedVegas track. That helps to calm my desires down. And I plan to rent a couple cars a year via the Turo app just to get a taste.

Even there, I've never driven anything but the P-cars.

I've owned BMWs for over 52-years and right now it about the best time I've had with my BMWs. I've owned a 128i M-sport 6MT for maybe 5-years and can't see my self without it. And just this past week I bought another BMW bike, bringing my current herd to eight bikes. The latest brings back the memory of my first BMW R100RS, a '78 I bought in '77. This one is an '84 Last Edition in un-restored condition with 21k miles.

I just don't buy a car by an impulse or on a whim . I do a search about its reliability and brand background as well. Besides , I do have must-have things and that car must meet those as well .
Design is also one of the major factors to me and I need to make sure I would not be bored of the car after a while

Nice. My first trip was a surprise and my cars were already pre-selected so got a mix of Ferrari, Lambo and an Audi. The 2nd trip was a work event and I didn't have much say in the selection but one car was a GT3 RS. Simply an amazing car.
If I go back I would only want to drive P cars or Ferraris.

Now, if we were actually on the oval, I'd definitely be interested in the Lambo or Ferrari. I did do a F on the local airport, but it was only a mild figure 8, maybe 500 yards long. There may have been some debris on the tires from over-running the ends when I hopped out . . .

We've got a great stable right now. My 440i gc is fast, comfortable and so easy to travel in. Her Bronco is loud, obnoxious and great fun off road.
My poor Mustang waits for love. I think I will work on getting the EFI done this weekend. |

My favorite BMW (of 10 purchased new): my 2005 E46 M3. Owned for 7 years (a record) and still missed despite being gone already 11 years now.

I can't stop thinking about it. I can't stop lurching on this forum. I can't stop wanting to drive it. I can't stop telling my wife and kids how much I really love this car. I. JUST. CAN'T. STOP.

The outcome? 1 out of 10 women showed any interest... if that. Young males on the other hand, lose their damn mind and to their credit show mad respect when a nice car is in their presence. I remember at a car show there was a McLaren Senna, guys were literally chasing it on foot taking pictures like it was the Beatles in a live concert back in the day. |

....when you've owned it for 10 years and you're not itching to buy another car.
I bought my 2014 328i M-Sport and picked it up in Munich on the European Delivery Program in August 2013. Looks and drives like new. While I love looking at the new crop of cars coming out each year, nothing makes me want to sell my beautiful little 10 year old car. Here's a pic next to my wife's X5. The X5 is a keeper too. |

I will agree on the constant parking lot "look backs" as being a good sign. I realize that the X5 M is fairly derided amongst M purists (and I get it), but at the moment my fiancé and I only have space one for car each, and only an SUV fits our needs, so that's what I have. That being said, I truly think the F85 is simply one of the best looking SUVs ever built, period. I love the more classic BMW design in the front, and the whole thing is very understated. The average non-car person doesn't give it second glance, but other BMW owners have given me plenty of compliments on it in parking lots, getting gas, etc.
Another sign is getting to drive a car that is ostensibly nicer, but still wanting to be back in your car. While the X5 was in the shop, I was given an M850i loaner. I drove it for nearly a week, and while the handling was impressive and the new N63 is excellent, it just wasn't the same. I got back in my car and it felt like seeing an old friend again. I usually do not keep a car more than a couple of years. The longest I ever kept a car was my '06 Altima SE-R 6-speed, which I had for over 5 years and I put over 70k+ miles on it. I loved that car, and it was with me through a lot of major life events, so there was a lot of sentimental value wrapped up in it. Ultimately the trans dropped 3rd gear, and it was time for it to go. I would have kept it, but I lived in an apartment at the time and there was just no reasonable way for me to fix it. Had a '01 Z51 C5 Vette that I bought with super low miles and in mint shape. Truly hated the car, but kept it for about 3 years, hardly ever driving it. Had a Stinger GT2 for about a year and a half; only car I ever bought brand new because at the end of 2019 they were leaving a pile of cash on the hood and I got it for $10k under sticker. Good car, but somewhat boring. Had plenty of other unremarkable cars, nothing that ever quite ticked all the boxes. Now that interest rates are through the roof (and I'm not quite at the point in my life where I can buy a $60k+ car outright in cash), I'll likely be keeping the X5 for a while. It doesn't hurt that I think it's an excellent car
