If we're only talking $1500, I'm willing to pay the premium. I thought we were talking more on the order of $3000.

The MSRP of the car equipped as I want it is $45,445. Invoice is $41,740.

In my particular deal a similarly equipped 06 330 would have cost about 3000 less...for me that 3 grand is well worth it in the performance upgrade due mostly to the huge torque increase in the new engine...if you don't care as much about this you should be jumping on an outgoing 330.

Only way to find out is to get out there and talk to dealers and try to work deals. Near MSRP deals on the 335 are all most are going to get for awhile unless you have other mitigating factors such as a long term dealer relationship, you know somebody, you want to do ED, etc.

Stealers in Atlanta aren't moving on the 330 pricing. I can't figure out why, other than demand must be real strong.

it's too bad the lexus is350 isn't all they cracked it up to be, otherwise i'd look real bad that bmw did release souped up engines but also charge you for them. hopefully the next g35 will have some substance in driving dynamics. competition is great.

I spent a long time debating between the IS 350 and the 330i... Two things helped me make my decision:

1) It turns out that the insurance for an 06 330i and an 06 M3 are about the same... and they're both also the same as my current car... a 2001 Honda Civic EX 2DR!

For some odd reason, the IS 350 was literally 2x all of these cars. The Lexus dealer chalked it up to higher resale value on the Lexus, which seemed possible when I heard it. But when I check on kbb.com for 03 IS 300 and 03 330i, the resale values were proportionally the same.

Anyone have a clue why the IS 350 could be 2x BMW on insurance? Is this not true for other people? I checked not only my own insurance (esurance.com), but also 20th Century, Progressive, and Allstate.

2) I realized that the 335i Sedan was getting the coupe's 300 HP engine.

So, I placed an order today for the new 335i Sedan with Century West, and they said I should expect shipment around mid Nov. ^___^ This is gonna be a huge upgrade for me.

My initial reaction is that it must be based on a higher risk of theft?

Either the IS 350 is stolen more frequently, or perhaps it lacks BMWs SOS thing. I've heard it can be used to recover a stolen vehicle. Does the IS350 use a more conventional key system that's easier to defeat?

I may be wrong...but i heard that any new entry model car will tend to be higher in insurance price due to lack of available parts and unknown resale value. The current 3 series sedan has been out for awhile and it's been a proven car on the street...far as safety,theft,resale, etc...whereas the new IS is fairly new on the market and will need some time..usually about a year or so before the insurance companies can establish fair premium.
