There have been a few switchers. The 535d's are certainly at my price range I find tempting. My 335d is nearly paid for so I'm considering my options. I've had several 535i's as loaner cars (i realize not the same thing), and well its just not as fun to me to drive as the E90. Not to say the 5 doesn't have its benefits, newer, better sized back seat, quieter, more luxurious, etc. But the 535d is further in to the luxury realm and far enough from sporty that its hard to want to jump. I enjoy driving my 335d.

The 535d seems pretty awesome. But living in the city here, that thing is huge. Way too big of a car for me. Difficult to park in my opinion and maneuver. The 335d is the perfect size imo.

I notice that M-sport doesn't have the black paddle shifters (looks like no paddles at all actually). I thought the M-sport came with the black paddles and the standard sport had the silver more slim paddles?

paddles are an option on the MSport - I owned one (MSport) with no paddles

IMHO wait for the MSport - unless you simply want the engine (which is wonderful) however if you want all that and a bag of chips - enjoy the hunt - reasonably you're not going to replace the headliner etc...to mimic the MSport - and if that's your thought process - heck just wait and find the car

I sold my 2011 MSport for high-teens under 2nd party warranty (CBU done - dealer maintenance etc...) and I thought it was beautiful - while I'm presently driving a 340 its not as special as that MSport - D.....

Point being if you want a 335D go buy one - if you want a 335D MSport go find one and enjoy the hunt :-)

ps- this is my car at time of sale

Gotcha, I thought they were standard with the package. Looks like I've been living my whole life a lie, ha ha.

What all is different on the M-sport? Or is there a thread that addresses all this somewhere? (Still fairly new to the site and going through archives of threads to sort what's applicable knowledge for me and what's just chatter)

The biggest differences between M-Sport and regular sport packages are M-Sport gets: Black headliner, different wheels, difference front and rear bumpers, a different steering wheel, and a few small M badges here and there. To clear up a few small misconceptions, there are 3 trims: Base, Sport, and M-sport. Base has 17" wheels, sport has 18" and M-Sport has different 18". Base is a square setup. Sport and M-Sport are staggered. Base has softer suspension. Sport and M-Sport have the same stiffer suspension. THE BRAKES ARE THE SAME SIZE BETWEEN ALL 3 TRIMS.

I'll also point out from having a sport (same issue as m-sport), that the sport and m-sport sport suspension is lower than the base. The cars will not clear parking lot ties, and have problems scraping in drive ways/dips. If you live in an area with lots of crowning of roads and steep driveways I would strongly consider the higher ride height of the base,

I see a lot of f-up front lips/airdams on the m-sports and sports here in the houston area. I can attest, pull too far forward parking and the curb will eat your lower facia.

Now if your careful its not a huge deal, and you can do what bb-cuda did where he raised his m-sport, and still get better handling.

Wow, gorgeous! When I was looking I wanted a white m-sport with black interior, and just couldn't find one. Is that just a lip on the front or is that a different front bumper cover all together?

Thank you and I'm sure the new owner appreciates that as well...

Here are two of my posts that should help:

I only had to raise it 1/4" to stop the scraping. Alas, it was too late in terms of needing the front bumper to be repaired or replaced. A sport and m-sport are ~3/4" lower to ground BUT the m-sport bumper sticks down further. The base and sport have exact same nose. Point is even thought the sport and m-sport are lower suspension wise, the sport's nose doesn't get scraped as much.

Well I'll be... I bought mine in SoCal, May of 2016 as well. I either missed your ad or maybe the price was out of my range at the time. Lip looks great, and I'm not usually a fan of them.

Stop crying, when it comes time to sell you will be asking us why it’s so hard to sell. Capitalism is a Bitch when it doesn’t go your way.if you like it buy it. If the value is not there let it go. Only you can decide on the value. It’s subjective, there are plenty of people who will not sell their msports for under 20k. You need to make that decision on your own. Put on your big boy pants or go buy a Chevy Cruze. Those are my thoughts.

Lol. No need for trolling. It's a rare car. There are like 3 m sports for sale in the country. It's hard to get a basis for reasonable pricing. I appreciate the input. I'm probably going to take it at 17.5k pending PPI.

Just a little info for you. People on here that have a sport package will tell you there is no real difference......There are, but it really only comes into play if you plan on keeping the car for awhile.
Numbers: There where only approx. 875 335d Msports ever brought over to the USA. They where sold in 5 colors with i think 5 diff. leather interiors/ 2 fake leather. 4 different interior trims (walnut, dark walnut, aluminum and Glacier silver) White, Gray and Black where the most pop. colors and Black interior with dark walnut trim was the most pop. interior. If you can buy an Msport that isn't the most pop. Then chances are you will get a fairly rare car.... like 1 in 25 on the road....and I'm not even counting the wrecked cars.....so could be 1 in 20 or 1 in 10 depending on the specs. No biggie. not now, but wait another 10 years and your car will be worth 5 or more thousand then the sport model to a collector. Same goes for the 2009 335d as less then 1000 where sold in the US.

I ended up with the m sport. Late 2011 build, titanium silver over black Dakota, glacier trim, cold weather, premium. No NAV or Harman kardon. Nice light weight spec. Enthusiast build imo.
