Well it's a good thing I have a VRSF FMIC ordered :]

Really? I thought that's where you get most of the power in that range. Why would the turbos die off that soon, and wouldn't the tune bring more power into that higher RPM range as an improvement? Seems kind of an odd engineering design.

The stock turbos don’t have the volumetric throughput to keep up with the air needs of an engine running a tune...

The stock turbos are rather small and it's pretty common in general for newer turbo cars to use tiny turbos. They're designed to produce low end torque and offer punchy driveability which means it sacrifices on the top end.
It is what allows the N54 stock to produce 300ft lbs of torque at 1400rpm.
Short shift around 6k and you'll be fine. The upgraded twins pull to redline and inlets can help some too even on stock turbos.

Linear throttle is definitely the move, just feels like cable throttle. Feels how it should, not fake huge throttle blade openings at next ti no throttle.

My car was jumpy at tip in, pulling away from a light cleanly was aggravating at best.

That being said, I didn't like it before my trans tune from Rod Sutphin, but with it, it's perfect. I think it's how he programs the torque converter that makes it considerably better matched than xhp ots.

3) When using the battery charger should it be in boost or trickle mode?

4) For the "OEM/catted DP's" I do not check this since I'm using catless DPs correct.

5) What should I set "coolant target at?

6) Linear throttle mapping good or not?
I personally don't flash anything unless my car is on a battery charger. It's not worth taking the chance of bricking the DME. True, the 2 min flash probably won't do this in all likelihood. Just make sure your battery is in great condition. Remember, the DME is hyper sensitive and doesn't like voltage below 14.5, when flashing.

When you play around with ISTA, you will learn that this program requires the battery to be on a trickle charger that keeps the battery at 14.50 at all times.
lol. I have never hooked my car to a charger. Not even for the first long flash.

No ill affects. Flashes fine every time.

Not advice, just my experience.

This is an extremely well known fact. Just look at any stock turbo dyno.

I lose a half second or more in the 1/4 mile and lots of trap speed if I let it run to 7k every shift.

Shift at 5700-6000 and you'll be good. I have my trans tune setup to shift that early so it's not even a thought anymore.

Stock turbos are designed to die off from about 5500rpm.

Your right about tune, a tune will typically keep the power/torque going longer into the rpm range, usually at least till 6-6.5k.

Upgraded turbos will hold boost up to about 7k.

I wouldn't say that. I would say the stock turbos are designed to produce 8 pounds of boost instead of the 18+ these tunes call for. They simply cannot keep up with the volume needed for 18+ pounds at 5.5k+ RPM's.

Your right, I was referring to the stock map, torque falls off a cliff from about 5k,

Targeting 18lb+ at 5.5k?

Which stage is that?

I thought I read stage 2 maps taper off 12-14lb?

https://mhdtuning.com/collections/mh...d-n54-map-pack

Or are you referring to Custom maps?

I assume you have a custom map, because stage 2+ ots doesn't target that high?

I wonder how long the turbos gonna last at that psi boost if you daily the car.

OTS map i have inlets though so it overboosts a bit.
They should last quite awhile theyre brand new with less than 5000miles on them. I plan on running a custom tune with E60 with around 24psi

Ok, my N54 is my only daily at the moment, can't risk running 24psi
