The vert, what the hell kind of door handle is that? A coin slot that you drop quarters in?
I know it's a render but jeez. Edit, edit, edit.

No RWD family car sub 3 series is BMW unworthy

I sooo hope this will NOT get a FWD biased setup but all the signs say that every New Class sub 3 Series level will be a FWD EV. That’s just not right. And all because people that bought a FWD BMW since 2014 made the brass overthere think people actually want that. Well, the’re wrong.

Unfortunately, those that “imagined” these images do a better job than BMW manage in reality.
I remember the “imagined” G45, that turned into a pig in lipstick in reality. |

I'm sure it'll look worse than any of us imagine given how things have been going these days.

I would generally agree. Feeing the vibes of this design language, and BMW needs to reduce the complexity from the trajectory they’re on with the current lineup (exterior and interior).

With a dedicated EV platform, why on earth would they go for FWD? That makes no sense. With the F40, the synergies were obvious, since it's just using the Mini platform and ICE's with FWD are just cheaper to assemble. With EV, FWD or AWD costs te same. Besides, when you want a sdrive +200kW platform, it better is RWD. |

Offcially because the market wants it but even Volvo now does smalll RWD EVs so that doesn’t compute. I bet it’s about discriminating buyers. If iX1 and iX3 are both RWD there will be more cannabalism between them. Same for 3 and smaller saloon. If you want a proper BMW pay 3 series X3 level money and they’ll let you have RWD. The rest? Tough luck. I stopped buying: FWD is a no go, I don’t want a bigger car and need rear doors. Well done BMW, brilliant strategy. |

you're not a fan of the "hate it at first sight, then slowly learn to tolerate it later on" school of design?

Nope. I am fan of functional design that also has longevity. Like 911.

The G series big, obnoxious, ugly grilles are dead. I love it.
