Apple never release plans on their future products, they basically just put them up on the website for sale when you can basically buy them and then make the announcements! Even Apple shops don't get told whats happening until they are ready for sale. There are loads of Mac rumour sites, and it certainly was rumoured a change to the iPods would be announced on 5th September.

SJ, You need a SID emulator or plug-in.

Get one for Winamp here.

Ordered a new 80gig 'classic' iPod to replace my tired looking 40g gen 4 Pod.

The touchy iPod doesn't interest me at all [and i love gadgets!!].

A word of caution if you are running a Mac. These new ipods will only work with your machine if you have OSX 10.4 or later. PCs are OK on XP or Vista.

NOW we need a moderator to move the new Itunes posts across to this thread...

I'll re-post anyway. Does anyone know if they have changed the Plug interface on the bottom ?

Just thinking ahead with the 6FL option.

Serjames, yes there was really no need for me to create a separate thread, I was just to keen to click the 'New Off Topic' button

Anyway if you look at the attached pic (from the Apple website - technical page on the iPod Classic), it shows the standard 'dock' connector. I think its safe to say that the I/O interface has not changed.

This was the greatest C64 game in my opinion. I remember feeling amazed at the 3d environment:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Head_Over_Heels_(game)

I was playing "rainbow six vegas" on a 22inch widescreen monitor in 1680x1050 definition and high end details last night ... I can't believe how far graphics and physics engines have progressed.

The playability of games from the C64 generation, was excellent, even though the graphics weren't (in comparison to today's games).

I even remember Chess on the Sinclair ZX81 that took up 1Kb- wouldn't be enough to fill a couple of textured pixels today!

Hope it's reviving some memories of the good old days of the c64!

They've got Kick Start 2 !!!!!

I can't access the site from work though (good thing or I'd get nothing done this afternoon)

http://c64s.com/game/1470/kick_start_ii/

Viv - you should have got the kick start music in the medley.

I can't believe how much I'd forgotten. Who can remember waiting for 15 minutes to load a game from tape.

Still on the bright side when double cassette recorders appeared on the market you could copy all of your mates games and fit about 20 on a single TDK D90.

Happy days.

Gauntlett, Kick Start, Head of Heels, The Last Ninja, Daley Thompsons Decathlon, Mission Impossible, Eureka (did anyone really finish it?), Bubble Bobble !!!, Ghostbusters, The Hobbit, Frogger !!!!!!!!!!!!, Paperboy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, PARALAX !!!!!!!!!!

The days when you could go out and buy a budget title for £2.99

I remember it all very well.

I actually ordered a Commodore modem through Zzap 64 magazine (great publication!) & got onto CNET!

I was in 3rd year seniors at the time & managed to log onto a local college 'server' & changed the logon info for our whole computer studies class- no work the following day!

Happy times!

I remember the Sinclair ZX 80/81 & Spectrum very well! A revolution in gaming/computing in their day. I even started amateur programming in BASIC
