How would I make my OEM Taillight non-blackline to blink amber like the euros'
hey stronie. good question

the housing is a little bit different than the U.S. version. it is not as red as ours

this pic makes it more clear what the euro light looks like without signals on.
thats why theirs will blink amber and ours won't.

can you get the US version to blink amber? i believe there is a LED amber bulb mod which you can purchase to get the desired effect.

talk to bavarian19, he used to have euro tailights, he can help you out more than i can.

Isn't this question answered by the last pic of the first post?

For that matter, have you ever seen a Deep Green or a Sonora E90, stock light or otherwise?

The lens over the turn signal portion of the stock U.S. unit is red. No matter what color bulb you put in the socket the signal will be red. The only way to get an amber turn signal is to either get the blacklines or the Euro unit. On the Euro unit, although photograph appear to show it as red, it is actually amber with a red surround.

My E90 had to have the taillights changed to meet British laws. The turn signals are amber. When I bring it back to the states next year, I am not changing back. Nor am I changing the light switch but that's another thread.

So, I purchased my e90 May 2005 in Phoenix, AZ and I have Euro tail lights (amber cover over the blinker, just like in the above picture). I guess someone messed it up...

not trying to hijack the thread but:
- never have seen a deep green E90 (guess it's too early 90's for most ppl).
However, in one day I saw both a Barrique Red and a Sonora E90 driving down the same road within 5minutes of each other... go figure. Have never seen either of those two colors again.

Got another question but don't know if asked before. Does anyone have the blackline tails and still have red blinkers instead of amber? it's possible right?

good sticky!

i read in a couple of other posts, if you can't find the black lines posted up on ebay by morristown, give them a call, and they'll put a pair up on ebay for you to purchase.

yea it's possible. just replace the amber bulbs with some red ones. you'll probably want to find the silver coated variety.

whatever floats your boat, but one of the reasons i got black lines was to get rid of the red turn signals.

^ you'll have to de-solder the bulb first, as I understand it, the turn signal bulbs are soldered onto the bulb base

I noticed that the amber bulb that came with the kit is slightly coated silver and after putting them on, I really don't think it is necessary to buy another stealth bulb to replace them. (unless you want it to flash red).
