Nick Olson put the stage 4's on his car less than 2 months ago. I believe he was the 1st person to run them. He's also a vendor for Autowerx. On the dyno, with the helix OD, he made around 570whp. He was all hyped about trying to build the fastest twin turbo n54. But just last week on his instagram I saw he purchased a DocRace kit. No mention as of why, or why he's moving away from the stage 4s. Seems a little fishy he's being so quiet about it, but then again, he is a vendor for them.

Just looked through his facebook... he has also deleted any mention of the dynamicworx turbos, as well as the video and charts of his dyno with them.
Someone also asked him if they exploded on the post where he says he bought a DocRace kit, and he had no comment. Something smells real fishy. Last edited by Tomball335is; 10-29-2019 at 02:24 PM.. |

And less than 100 miles sounds like they came in the mail broken if it is the turbos. |

I chose not to attach a link as there aren't many n54 forums out there so it shouldn't be too hard to find if you look. What cracks me up is the denial in warranty because he's "running stock exhaust" I'm not too sure what to think of that...

There is still no analysis on what caused the issue with NoGuru's turbo yet. It could have been oversped when there was a boost leak causing it to fail. Right now until it's been removed and there is an independent third party evaluation, everything is conjecture.

I had to read up on what "DAW" was and a slight background on what was going on...not surprised this thread went south as fast as it did.
Unfortunately, this company is toast and will never rebuild its brand. Even if the owner corrected everything, the second he posts...he is going to get smoked (no pun intended). Best of luck with this thread...wouldn't be surprised to see it gone by tomorrow.

Cheap turbos failing? Another year, another turbo vendor coming & going. Yay N54.

Have not been following the DAW turbo story fully but just saw this in a FB group and reminded me of this post. EDIT: Just noticed it's the same guy as the FB post above someone else posted. Guess this is his update.

That's concerning, but also the fact that if you read through his comments, his oem had the exact same symptom and looked the same when he changed them out. SO, the oil could actually be coming from the head and not the turbos.
Reading further down the comments, he let his PCVvent to air instead of his OCC, no smoke or oil. Sounds to me like too much crank pressure not letting the oil drain and getting pushed out of the seals. Another debunk. Last edited by eyelobes; 10-30-2019 at 01:46 PM.. |
