I think I may be the only person that doesn't really mind the front plate. On most BMW it almost seems as if the front was designed for a front plate (I think front plates are required in all European countries).

Also having the front plate gives me a little bit of extra protection if someone slightly bumps the front of my car while parked (especially with my Weathertech license plate cover).

It seems to be more of an issue of appearance when there is a front plate on more sporty/exotic cars. The Corvette is one car that looks horrible with a front plate. There is something really awkward about about that recessed mounting of the plate.

Im going to get a mock up EU plate

Any good websites that sell mock-up Euro Union or DE plates? i want to get a euro plate for my front that has the exact characters as my actual US plate. I know that won't make any cops happy, but it's cool.

I used to know of a few websites that sold them. Can't recall the URL's.

Thnks!

ED Front License Plates

For ED cars, I am afraid there is no way out. Check the following thread at bimmerfest:
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...+license+plate

I struggled with this for a while and eventually decided to leave the German front plates on (as a souvenir) and get personalized Florida plates for the back with the same alphanumeric characters as the front.

There is a reason why some dealerships insist on installing the front license plate bracket: they want to avoid any liability in the event u get a ticket.

I live in Toronto, Canada and I asked my BMW dealership to not install the front license plate bracket. At first, the sales rep said no, because one of their recent E90 owners asked for no front license plate bracket. But then that owner got a ticket, but told the police it was the dealership's fault for not installing the front license plate upon dealership delivery. So the dealership got slammed with the ticket cost.

HOWEVER, the ugly plastic front license plate BRACKET is NOT mandatory ANYWHERE in the world. Only the front license PLATE is sometimes mandatory. So I told my dealership not to instal the plastic bracket, and instead, I will just have my plate installed on the front bumper. This isn't as clean a look as NO bracket and NO front license plate, but I feel it's still a little cleaner and certainly a little different from everyone else.

Yes, thats why sometimes dealer ask you to sign legal paper saying
that the buyer is fully responsible for the action.

Sometimes if dealer says they can't do it, tell them you'll sign a legal paper
saying you will be held responsible for what you are asking and they will
do it for you.

Some states have laws that require the dealership to make the vehicles they sell "Legal Road Ready", which means they can't let it out the door with illegal lights or no front plate holder. If they do, the dealerships can be fined. If your dealer is making a stink, its probably because you live in one of those states.

Yes, it's true.

Sorry but there is no choice re front plates. It would be illegal to deliver the car without the license plate mounted.

There isn't really anything you can do.

Uh, I think my answer (the post above yours) was fairly clear in this regard, no?

I noticed e90fanatic state that he is picking up his new car in Munich. Do you live there or is that an option similar to the one merc offer? (Here in UK mercedes dealerships give you the option of picking up your car from the factory in Stuttgart or have it delivered to the dealership). As I stay in Scotland and am on annual leave in March when the car is ready I'd like to go over there and pick her up personally if that's an option? I know BMW certainly don't advertise that service in any brochure here...

Welcome to e90post!
I'm not sure about Scotland, but in the U.S. BMW offers the ED, European Delivery.
Check your BMW website or call a dealership for details.
You could also try doing a search here, the search functions works quite well.

I've instructed my SA to be sure no one drills any holes in my bumper at the PCD. Hope the communication flows.
