Is there a dodgy batch of filters or something?
I'm on here researching for a diagnosis of the whine my N52 330i is making - mine sounds exactly like mr sarge's videos in the first post. My current filter is OEM, replaced during last service in Feb this year and covered approx 2k miles (or less) since. Noise has been present for around the last few weeks.

Update: replaced filter - now silent
Pic of old filter showing deformation: Fingers crossed it remains silent now...

Great post - same thing happened to me. Crushed filter with a broken filter housing. Thought it was something to do with belts but the noise was located at the oil filter housing without a doubt.
Bumping this post so others with an N52 might see if they have the same problem. Abe |
