German horsepower vs American horsepower hehe

It's kind of weird seeing my car so stock, this was filmed like 3 months ago so I've done a bunch of stuff since. Front end is so bare and awkward without a carbon lip!

So why does this thread exist then? M2 is faster than a mustang and slower than a lot of other cars. Who cares?

The M2 is certainly faster in a straight line, although the Dark Horse has more grip and better braking. Either could win on the right track.

These drag race videos are the equivalent of the forbidden fruit in the automotive world.

Well done.

At some point in the future, hopeful to see the results ofYugo vs the best Honda can offer https://powerequipment.honda.com/law...dels/hrx217vka

Would've liked to see a race with automatics & closer rear end gear ratio matching like someone said.

I know Sam gets a lot of negative shit from people but his videos are closer to real world results. Non professional drivers drag racing. In reality hardly anybody is going to the the Ring, Laguna seca etc and abusing the hell out their cars doing lap times. Most people are stop light or freeway racing or enjoying their car on some back road.

Do I want to drive a panel gap, constant recall?

One is 5.0L the other is 3.0L… does capacity not count for anything…?
For the uneducated, in most Motorsport where various induction type cars compete together in the same class a forced induction car capacity is multiplied by 1.7 to gain equality. ie 3.0L x 1.7 = 5.1L
That makes the M2 the equivalent of a 5.1L NA car. Pretty close comparison really. One is just more efficient than the other.

I can see the zf8sp version getting a mid 3 0 to 60 and an 11.7 quarter mile in the right conditions/ surface. I believe car and driver achieved this.

Both are also 2 doors - Coupes - GT cars. The Model 3 is not

However, I do agree that it’s stupid that every comparison is just a drag race, which is why a bunch of nobodies can now make YouTube videos of the most low effort form of racing, especially with the advent of launch control.

Boring video, regardless of the winner.

I doubt many G87 buyers chose the car so they could punk a Dark Horse in a drag race. YMMV

So, don't be shocked if you roll up to a S650 that has 3.73s in the rear end and the outcome isn't the same as this match-up. Unless you've got the ZF8 possibly. That might make it more interesting.

Personally, I would like to have seen the automatics matched up instead of the manual cars, but I think the S650 only gets the 3.55 with the auto. So, the G87 would probably destroy it.
This is True! I have a S550 mustang GT with performance pack and the gearing of 3.73 helps out a lot. However, I still think the M2 would pull away if it was a straight drag race from a dig or roll. I understand my M4 is faster then the M2 but based on my butt dyno the S58 even detuned would win.

You bring a valid point

But the 3.0L I6 Twin Turbo has immense pull

Still I do not think it is a fair comparison to an NA V8 regardless of differences in engine displacement

Exactly. The only ones that care about model 3’s are model 3 owners. They are the least interest least unique cars in the world at the moment. Nothing more than regular traffic clones. The Toyota Camry of this generation.

For real, had a roommates friend who is in real estate who had just gotten a model 3. At the time I only had the mustang. He kept boasting about how his car would smoke my car in a race. Well long story short he has a crush on my roommate and when her and I get in his car for a ride she goes, "it's so plain in here". After the ride she tells us that she likes the mustang more because it sounds and looks mean. She jokes, "I like looking like an a**hole when I'm in a car
