I don’t think LKQ self service yards pull parts, unless it’s an employee buying them. LKQ dismantlers get their own cars that aren’t available for you to walk in and pick your parts. Need to call them and go pay before it’s pulled, or order online.

Headlights are hit or miss. Most of the issues I see is headlights full of dust on the inside. $120 each is steep.

If my rear console deal falls through, I’m gonna get a sedan one for the coupe. I would love some spare trim so I can paint it. My current stuff is the “rare wood” and I would rather not ruin it.

Yards here are very hit or miss. Tons of part outs though.

I think they all kind of suck... the good stuff goes to auction, the medium stuff dismantled by ebay/internet sellers, leaving the cars that just aren't worth it going to local yards. Buy occasionally a gem shows up!

What appears to be a clean find in The 'Dino: https://www.lkqpickyourpart.com/inve...2006-bmw-330i/

https://bimmer.work/vin/k8676479fcec...cbca0/options/

It has the window shade package, so someone go grab all those parts!!! I'm tempted to, but no real desire to install them all. Looks really clean overall! Sport seats, 3 stage, sun shade, staggered wheels... all the goods!

If I'm really motivated, I'm going to pull the 3.64 final from it, but no idea what they'll charge me for it compared to what I can buy on ebay for and have it delivered to my house!

I was hoping to get an oil cooler from a nicer E60 today, but settled for the spare tire. Jack was already taken unfortunately, but most of the way there for the a new kit!

Was also hoping against hope to get a nice condition door seal, but no luck with that.

I'd bet the jack and tools are not too badly priced. Check getbmwparts.com.

Thanks! They're out there, new, ebay, maybe at the wrecker if I get lucky. Got some time to come up with the best option. Stars did not align for me on this one!

The wheel nut wrench and wheel chock date back to the 1968 2500 (E3)! I have both in my wife's Z3.

There's a few million out there somewhere...

The jack is E60-specific.

Saturday I went to the local pick yard. Strangely enough they had 2, black 325i's on the yard. No other e90's at all.

It was good for me as I needed black 325i parts. My sons car was gotten cheap, and some of the reason was scratches/dents on the driver and passenger doors, and a trunk lid with very bad/peeling paint. Obviously a bad respray.

Also the left side speakers quit working a couple weeks ago and the right rear tire kept loosing air, ever since I put new tires on in September. Tire shop corrected for free last week but mentioned due to corrosion on the wheel bead it was just a matter of time before it started to leak again.

So Saturday I grabbed a front and rear passenger door, 1 each from 2 different cars, trunk lid, Hifi amp and a spare matching wheel.

Installed the amp yesterday and that fixed the stereo issue.

Today my son and I installed the trunk lid and doors. Getting the trunk to line up was very fiddly. Seemed when the body lines were correct the striker was not and vice-versa. Eventually we got it lined up correctly and closing properly.

The doors were much easier. Still had to shim the rear door a good bit for alignment. (glad I grabbed the shims at the junk yard in addition to the ones from the existing doors). All locks and windows work properly. Even got lucky with the passenger door mirror being the same as what was on there so it functions properly.

We still need to swap the interior panels from the old doors as they are black and the replacements are gray. Also the existing doors windows are a different shade of tint than the new ones so we will swap the glass over as well. Project for tomorrow.

It wasn't until I started cleaning a spot on the new rear door I realized we have an issue. Our car is Schwartz. I am a bit colorblind mind you but the new door is black. It's also not just black. Diamond Schwartz. It was super dark and overcast on Saturday plus the normal dirty salvage yard coating of grime and I truly didn't notice a color difference. Even my wife and son didn't see it until there was good lighting and a clean spot.

Oh well. I am sure it will throw people off. Hope it doesn't cause any wrecks along the way.

All my local yards have converted into non self serve. I so miss the days of good old pick and pulls. Was even better when I was flying with USAF, We traveled through Germany twice a week and Both Spangdahlem and Ramstein have semi decent pick and pulls. Ramstein's is a hike from Billeting but I would walk there and take a cab back. It was the best from 99 to about 2010 but after that E30's started drying up and E36's in EU were never decent, they were normally M40 powered 316 or 318's with occasional M50/M5x but you would never see an S50b30 or S54.

Semi-score on an E70 spare. It's pretty worn down, so will need a new tire. But donut + jack for $30 can't be beat! Wish it hard the surround for the storage, but ya gets what ya gets...

I'm a simple person. Scoring on a door gasket made my day! Pulled off a passenger door which is the trick to finding good ones. The mouse fur is a little worn, but the rubber gasket is pristine!

$212 for the new BMW part

$90 for a quality looking aftermarket one.

Or the above one for $6.71 + $5 admission at my local!

Also grabbed a few door card plugs and found a 10mm and 12mm socket that were left behind by someone. What a day!

Picked up some under hood insulation as well as finished off the a spare tire kit for the E91 by getting a jack from an E46. I'm missing an anchor cover in the cargo area, and hoped that one from an E46 would fit, but no luck on that try. Bonus wrench!

That's a good one. I'm still kicking myself for not pulling that from the car that I got my replacement rear hatch from this past summer. I could have gotten it for free (as I did a set of mirror covers), I just spaced. :-(

Yeah, I forget things when I'm there... I usually go for the A item, with several B and C things to look for. Those usually get forgotten. But really happy with the gasket! I can't believe how expensive they are new!

Pretty solid score today at the local! Yesterday both an E70 with a hitch, and an E90 with an alarm popped up on the inventory. This morning I'm there bright and early with some tools! Both vehicles were still intact, so I was able to get the hitch (aftermarket, no wiring harness) as well as the complete alarm package for $110 and a hour of my time!

I was hoping to get a spare wheel and the cargo floor strut from the E70, but it ended up being a three row vehicle. I did a quick check of some E60s to see if I can pull an oil cooler real quick, but the engines were all smashed into the radiators. They cut away the front subframe on all these cars in order to pull the cats, so it's hard to get access to anything in the front of the engine bay.

But I'm really happy about the hitch as I want to get my bike rack up and running. Alarm is just bonus for the inevitable next car!

It will definitely end up with one of the kids, but I don't know which one! Right now they all kind of share it based on need. The Baby has driven it down to a track meet in Murrieta today, but First Born likes driving it out to college classes in Riverside. If Middle Child can get a third year on campus (lottery based), she won't need a car, but if she has to live off campus, who knows what her needs will be.

Anyway, long/short of that is we'll probably need it another car at some point in the future. I wouldn't mind another e91 for them as they're such great do-everything cars for active people. But I also have the itch for an e93, so if I come across the perfect one for me, maybe one of them can inherit my 330i. The only downside is that car is definitely getting up in mileage, and I'm not sure what the reliability will be like.

Also my wife's F10 has always kind of annoyed me... continual little problems keep popping up, and they're all about 20% more expensive to fix than on an e90! I'm kind of kicking around the idea of replacing it with a X1 35i. They're basically lifted e91s with the N55 motor, so seem kind of kick ass! Here's one that ticks off a lot of the boxes that is a good example of what I'd like. But she loves tat F10, so would be a tough sell.

TMI? Well, you asked...
