yeah I was told I could have it on a personal deal, just had to advise VW that I would use the car for business mileage at some point.
I didnt realise all of this until afterwards. |

The Golf R deals were a total cluster fuck. It's not like the deals that are about now are even close to the previous (supposedly business only) ones where you would expect them to be 20% more. They are more like double.
Shifted my opinion of VAG from being a bad company to being utter cunts.

I had the new Golf R and GTD out a few weeks ago, simultaneously, as I was pretty sure I would lease one of those two.
Finally, after 12 months of car and soul searching, I finally found two deals which were nice and cheap and the cars did everything i needed of them for the next 2 years. (£204 all in for R and £240 all in for GTD - these were cost price to my bro, who is a broker) And then he told me there was a 6 month wait. forget that. As for the cars, the Golf R is stunningly quick for a 2.0T. The DSG version felt every bit as quick as my good friends C63. As much as I loved the R, I was about to order the GTD - simply because the mileage allowance was 10,000pa (vs 5,000 on R) and the GTD did over 50mpg and the R did 22. Don't believe the book figures of 40mpg for the R. You would have to live on a pretty straight road with the perfect weather conditions to achieve that. So back to the drawing board. I'm reluctant to spend more than £250 a month. Simply because I'm in the middle of a career change. I need to prioritise other things first for the next 12-18 months. By then, hopefully, i would have achieved my goals and then could look for something else. Waiting for some figures on a A3 Sportback now. |

I went to see the R initially in February in Aberdeen. They had two there. A blue one for demo and a white one to sell as a new car. They were boasting they had sold 20 cars before anyone had seen one. Now roll on to the end of July and they've still not sold the white one. They pre-registered it months ago. |

I very nearly bought a new Golf R 3 years ago before getting my 335. When it came to signing on the dotted line though I just couldn't part with 35k on what is essentially a Skoda Fabia but with a fancy engine and some VW sticker on the bonnet
Just specced up the new one on VWs website...39k!!! No thanks, you have to be a Golf fanatic to part with that much cash for one. |

Those July orders are just being delivered now although in some cases the people are still having their build weeks pushed back. It's like VW are really punishing those people for some reason.

Take a look in this thread.
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/t...lable%3F&mid=0 Go to the penultimate page or there abouts. Your 20k requirement may make some of them non-viable. As is with me. WM |
