Do these warranties stay with the car like a CPO...or is it attached to the owner and if you sell the new owner doesn't inherit it?

Aren't the BWM extended warranties exclusionary instead of exclusionary? Do they hold up pretty well (claims get approved easily etc?)?

How do these prices sound...they sounded kinda high to me
edit - there were for a 335i, i'm sure it varies by model right??

7/100 - $3240
6/100 - $2790
5/100 - $2300

This was in Raleigh NC...

Can I buy this policy from any dealer...or is it advisable to stay local with this purchase (since i'll be getting the servicing done locally).

Sorry for the late update. I've been procrastinating! I can't do it any more because I'm at 43.5K+ miles already. I need to hurry and shop around before it hits 45K. My strategy is to email BMW dealerships in small cities to see if they'll give a better price.

Please help email some dealers if you have nothing better to do this weekend! Thanks!

Can anyone who's purchased a plan for a 335i or got a quote comment on these prices?

Don't we need to be listing the model of BMW with these quotes?

How much are the deductibles for the non-BMW warranties? I know that the CPO is a $50 deductible and that's a great deal if you ever have to use it.

Edit: what level is the CPO? Is it just the basic coverage? Because after reading from their website what is covered and what isn't covered, it's pretty basic. I've been told that CPO is around $2500. I've also looked at MAPP (Members Automobilie Protection Plan) from my credit union and something around 4yrs/40k miles with $200 deductible is $1700. With $100 deductible it's $2500 and these both are Superior coverage (http://www.baycities.org/pages/loaninsurance.html#MBI). I can't seem to find their actual website that would list out everything covered. I just have a pamplet.

As far as I know 335 and 328 warranties are the same for both maintenance and extended warranty. Only the 335d is different for obvious reasons.

Also does anyone know if you can purchase the Platinum warranty for the difference between it and the gold. i.e. Platinum - Gold = amount to upgrade. My car is CPO but I'd like to get the iDrive covered just in case.

My experience was that when I asked my dealer the same question the 328 platinum warranty was $400.00 less than the 335's

I think you meant to say the Powertrain Plus.
$2,390.00 is the MSRP for Powertrain Plus 7/100. You can get a lower price if you shop around.

Be careful when making price comparisons. They vary greatly based on car model 328 vs 335 and also by coverage type powertrain, gold, and platinum. E.g. 328 powertrain will be much much cheaper than 335 platinum (tops off at about $4k MSRP)

There is a standard MSRP that dealers will throw at you, but they are heavily marked up so you can negotiate quite a bit and the dealer will still come out on top with a good profit. And you can buy from any dealer so do some shopping around.

If you have purchased a BMW warranty please post car model, coverage, dealership, and what you paid for it so we can have some datapoint references.

Got quoted $3900 for Platinum 7yrs/100k. He said he might be able to knock off $100. Does this sound too high?

Here is my latest quote.
  • 2008 328i Sedan, AT, Sport, Prem
  • Gold package 5/100
  • BMW of Austin
  • $1870 ($300 less than my original quote)

I was on location and got a quote for $2670. The guy told me there is a $500 discount from a BMW incentive that expires today. I told him the place I bought my car from gave me the same quote ($2170) months ago and wanted to know how he could make the deal sweeter. He says he's already losing money but will give me an extra $50 discount.

I was ready to purchase it but my credit card was declined... I left without buying it. When I got home, I found out that I received a replacement credit card because some Bank Of America accounts where compromised. The person called me 2 hours later and offered $1870 if I would make the purchase today. I did. I saved $300 by being lucky! I'm going to the strip bars tonight!

From BMW San Diego. Every combo you could want. If you bought your car from them, they knock $500 off the gold and platimum prices. Sorry about the image size, figured everyone would want to be able to read it.

I have an 06 330i and went with the 7/70K platinum plan. The salesman sold it to me for the gold plan price of $2630, it was about $300 of MSRP.
