I just tried out the new settings for e92 w/ idrive and it sounds great. I thought it would still sound a little heavy in the front speakers like the last settings but it didn't. I believe the Logic 7 Concert Hall makes it much more balanced. You may still have to tweak the fader to your likings but i found the new setting to be a great improvement.

I will try this tonight and look forward to hearing it. This may sound stupid but I listen to Howard and to ESPN a lot in the car. Should these setting work then also for talk radio? I also have the speed volume at 3 (in the middle) because I like how it works. Should I just leave it at 1 as you say for the e90 with I-Drive or is it not a big deal to leave it at 3. Let me know and thanks.

ALL I LISTEN TO is Howard, during the day at least, and that's what i'm basing my brief review on. Actually 75% Howard & 25% House music off my iPod.

Good settings I tweaked to my preference. E92 Logic 7 Idrive

Bass = + 2 (it's losing definition at 3)
Logic 7 = off (The simulated surround sounds wrong, I like my stereo music in stereo)
Fade = 0 (I don't sit too far back and +2 was too much front for me)

But that's it.

Thanks for responding, I hadn't seen your old post. I was just curious, I hope I didn't come across as a jackass. I tried them out, and they sound good (although I prefer it without the L7).

2khz -3
5khz -1
10khz +4

BASS +3
TREB +1
FADER +2
S-VOL 1

I kept all your settings except I have Bass +2 and I turned off the Logic7. Definite improvement over my previous settings! Thanks for all your hard work Malek!

I'm no sound pro, but having these settings vs. just a flat EQ made a difference. I already had Concert Logic 7 set, and I listen at low to moderate volumes and like more treble, so I pumped those up +4 or so. Overall the sound in the car is excellent. Thanks for all your hard work to get these settings down.

Thanks -- I have an e93, but did find the e92 settings an improvement (though probably not optimal, as I'm sure its not identical.

I have an audio spectrum analyzer and a pattern disc, maybe I'll hook it up and tweak it from there.

I had (incorrectly) assumed that frequency response balancing would have been at least reasonable from the factory....

Thanks again... If you do happen to spend time in an e93, I'd try the settings.

I had a question about imaging. Shouldn't the balance be more towards the driver? Since the driver side speaker is against the driver's leg as obstruction, it should be biased more towards the driver?

I've wondered about this myself, I find the balance better if I set balance 1 or 2 to the passenger side. If I don't the music seems to be left channel focused.

thanks for the effort put into this Malek. one question for you: while you were adjusting settings, was the music you were playing comming from an ipod or were you playing through a cd/mp3 cd?

one thing i have noticed is that when i play music through my ipod, the treble is much brighter (almost ear piercingly so at higher volumes) compared to when i play a regular cd, mp3 cd. or usb stick. has anyone else noticed this themselves?

i have a wide music collection in mp3 and cd form. it's unfortunate that the sound is different comming from an ipod compared to a regular cd. with the settings that have been posted in this thread, i find music much more enjoyable when playing as a cd or regular mp3. my ears tend to ache after a bit if i'm playing music through my ipod.

just some observations i had.

I will try this in the morning. I used your last settings to guide me to getting the sound I like (albeit not accurate) I've hated logic 7 since I've had the car so I'm curious to see how this sounds. Thanks again for doing this!

I've DEFINITELY noticed this too. I read in a previous post that you have to have your equalizer settings on your ipod to OFF as well as having the volume either all the way up (or down) i can't remember right now because i'm not in my car to check. Also, the bitrate of the mp3 greatly effects the range of highs and lows. I found that it sounds the best when i put songs with a 192 bitrate.

BTW - Your location "office desk" is f**king hilarious" I swear i'm on this website posting for 50% of my day at work! LOL

+1 Make sure your internal Ipod EQ settings are set to off or flat. But ultimately the quality of your MP3's will depend on the bitrate they were ripped. Also, it will depend somewhat whether you are using the headphone connection to the Ipod or using the line-in connection.

Going to give these settings a try this afternoon, I like how mine sounds now, but will see if this works out better. I consider myself pretty knowledgeable in car stereo installations/setup and have a "trained" ear for how the stereo should sound in the car. However its also nice for someone to have put some actual science behind their setup settings and used an analyzer.

Hey guys, first, I am glad you guys are liking the settings for your car's. That's very good to hear.

Second.. The IPOD sounding brighter.. The internal EQ of the IPOD must be set OFF. I mentioned that in the original post, but I understand it was a bunch of reading so it could have been missed. But turn the IPOD EQ off. It should not sound any brighter, louder or different than an MP3 CD. Original store bought CD's will always sound better than a burned CD, MP3 or IPOD.

The settings were done with all types of media, not just the IPOD.

These settings sound great! As Melekreza mentioned, the fader should be adjusted based on the seat position. I just digitized a favorite piece of vinyl, and compressed it using Apple lossless (which I think is best quality of what an iPod can support) it sounds amazing using these settings. I definitely feel like the bass is being imaged from the front of me now as opposed to definitely feeling like it was coming from underneath.

Do a shoot out with apple lossless on your Ipod vs WMA Lossless on a usb key. From everything I've read the DAC in the car doing the decoding even sounds better.
