i am pretty sure you can interchange the mtec wheel with an m3 wheel... but since they are pretty much the same thickness and you get the baby smooth leather with the m3 wheel, why would someone with an m3 want to change to the mtec wheel?

the thickness at the thickest parts are the same as m3 and the thinner parts (where the contours are) are thinner than m3 wheel... but if someone wanted to make the whole wheel thicker than m3, its possible. everything can be custom made, thickness, materials, stitch color, etc.

I like the perforation on the leather,

I have the M3 wheel and wanted to trade with someone for the M-Tech Wheel but not sure if my DCT paddles will fit the M-Tech wheel,

yea, i think they would fit... i dont see any visible difference to the back of the DCT wheel vs the mtec paddle shift steering wheel. maybe you could search the forum, i believe some people have fitted dct paddles to their mtec steering wheel (very common among 335 owners)... they could prob tell you if any modifications were needed.

Does the electronic performance steering wheel entail anything additional (such as wiring, etc.) aside from installation?

I have a standard M3 wheel with the M stitching. I love thick steering wheels and was thinking of having mine reupholstered to make it even slightly thicker than the M3 wheel with the 2 side sections in alcantara and the top & bottom sections in standard BMW M3 leather. Anyone know of a shop that can do this and make it look EXACTLY like stock - just thicker? Having it appear completely stock is very important to me - especially the BMW leather parts and the stitching. I still have my regular OEM sport wheel so sending it out to have it done wouldn't be a problem. Thoughts & suggestions?

Wires come with the electronic performance steering. When you don't have paddles now and want them on your new steering wheel you can order an additional cable from burger motor sports. I chose the M3 paddles so I have one side upshifting and one downshifting. You can hawever reajust the original paddles to shift in the same manner. Link is somewhere on this site.

Hey Prowess - where did you have the work done on your wheel - or is this another one of your famous DIYs? You wouldn't tackle that yourself, would you?

its thicker than the original sport package steering wheel. its bout the same thickness as the m3 steering wheel. except it has perforated leather instead of smooth leather.
