I'm sure a can of spray paint can be thrown in with the purchase of an exhaust
Seriously though, I doubt it. It wouldn't be worth the added cost to produce as most will just want plain SS. |

Midpipe or No Muffler Option
Sorry to ask again D, but a couple of us want to know if you two are fabbing a midpipe/no muffler option?

The production exhausts are planned to have a choice of mufflers or no mufflers. Something is in the works for a solution in the meantime if you guys can't wait until then, but that solution will have mufflers.

Guys, I wouldn't jump off into the no mufflers way unless you know what your really getting sound wise. I did something a little related to the "meantime" solution that iaknown mentions. I went without mufflers and its pretty loud. I'm considering having mufflers added now. I say this to keep you guys from having to do double work like i may have to. My car sounds like a "baby cummins" when driving slowly (15-25 mph). When i romp on it, its quite loud. When on the freeway and romping on it, the sound sort of reminds me of a Datsun 280Z if it had an open exhaust but also the throatier noise of a diesel.
My recommendation is to go with the muffs and wait on his final version that is 3" until the split. |

From somebody that has modified the aftermarket 335i exhaust, I'd leave the mufflers. This car has an insane sound with the straight through mufflers in place. It's crazy deep and has a moderate note at idle with nice turbo whistle. It ROARS when you plant your foot, but is nice and civilized on the highway. I parked in front of a British gent at the drive in a few weeks back. He walked over and wanted to know what was done to the car. The conversation started with "Mate, your car sounds inhuman. Absolutely amazing! What have you done?" If Iaknown's system sounds half as good, you will get compliments CONSTANTLY!
For the record, I have a 7.3 powerstroke with 4" system (sounds great), and a '94 RX7 with straight exhaust and atmospheric wastegates (too loud). I like a car that makes noise, but it has to be the right kind. |

I have no mufflers and receive compliments all the time. I find it to be relatively quiet.
My exhaust consists of the DPF/SCR/mufflers removed, running through a 3" 50-cell cat. |

this exhaust with mufflers and an electronic exhaust cut out would be awesome for those of us that work in real estate and can not let our clients know we are hooligans.

By midpipe I am referring to between the downpipe and mufflers only. Just want to ditch the SCR and shelve it.

I see that you mentioned a 50 cell cat so that may quieten things a little. Where is the cat at? I am the later and all piping is true diameter. Only about 8" of 3" OD, a y split into (2) 2.5" OD. I have the 2.5" resonators and then straight pipe all the way back. I have 4" OD/3" ID exhaust tips. At low to around 1800 RPM, its very loud. At freeway speeds, its fine. Iaknown, sorry for stepping on your thread. Other than 9mm, others may want something a little more subtle. I'm only speaking out to prevent others from going into "redo" mode like i likely am. Iaknown has been working on this for a long long time and i feel there is a reason his "out of the gate" offering is with the muffs. Sou335rD and caraudio1, tell us how your exhaust sounds with those mufflers please? I'm traveling again this week and will work on getting a video of my exhaust when I get back home. Sour and Caraudio did the same exhaust I did. We did Sour's at my house, but I'm sure they'll chime in. I posted a dyno pull once upon a time.

Aftermarket exhaust sound w/ mufflers
I have the Circuit Werks exhaust and decided to leave the mufflers on mine. No emissions crap whatsoever. My car has a very diesel-y burbble on start up just before the turbos warm/spool up. Once the car gets warm you hear much more of the turbo whistle. It is a really pleasant sound for me, but that's all subjective I guess.
I thought about going muffler-less as some of you have, but ultimately, I am glad that i didn't. It's just loud enough with very minimal drone. That really only happens between 1600-1800 rpm, and again it's very light. I usually only ever hear it when i'm pulling onto an interstate. I've been meaning to get a recording of my exhaust and post it to my build thread, but haven't been able to get around to it. In conclusion, I think it's a good decision for Iaknown to include mufflers with his system. If someone really wanted something louder they could always just cut them off completely and spew soot all over the ground |

A couple tweaks will be done but all in all, everything looks good
Notice everything is a slip-fit design, no hokey flanges that will leak.... And give me some feedback guys...tip size good? Should we go larger? Last edited by iaknown; 07-29-2015 at 01:11 PM.. |

Looking good! I was going to build my own turbo to tail system just because it's what I do for a living, but this looks good enough to quench my desire to get out the welder! I'll still build my own dp just because I'm picky about flex joints, but I'm glad to see there's a quality option for the rest!
